Both my grandfathers got PTSD from fighting Nazis and the Axis. My paternal grandfather became a massive alcoholic and abusive toward his wife because of it. His wife finally had enough and kicked him out (in 1962), and he did not respond by trying to stay, stalking her, suing her, etc. He decided that he was too messed up to live in civilization, joined a fishing boat on Lake Superior, never contacted his sons, and died at age 60.
It's really depressing. And yet, for his time and circumstances, he made the best choice he could see to protect others.
My grandmother never removed the thin gold chain with the little heart on it he'd given her.
I dunno. Life's complicated. But one thing that isn't complicated is that you don't vote for people with Nazi tattoos!

some of my random thought about Paralives;
- I was envisioning something like a snow globe simulator. The lighthouse and house on the small island featured in the early trailer. One family per house. It’ll better to wait until one house has succeeded before expanding to the entire town.
- Height. That’s important detail for character but I can fully understand why it was omitted from TS4. Implementing variations tailored to a character’s height for every action in the game, from basic interactions to small gestures while idle, would be impossible with just a run-of-the-mill idea. So, when the decision was made to include height, I assumed there must be some extraordinary idea behind it, but...
- It seems it can't assign negative points to a character's personality. Also I feel like there's a general lack of anything negative, something like dark humor et al.
- Too many collaborations. This is just my personal observation, but launching collaboration project, even multiple, before the game’s core mechanics are fully implemented is not a good sign.
I already refund it and not try it again until the official release, so won't increase any further.
I rather like curiosity at first sight, instead of love. Being kind of intrigued by a person instead of full on smitten with them. That combined with slow burn is some good stuff
Fake dating or secret dating?
Fake dating if done well can be kind of hilarious and even wholesome in some cases (like two people who have to fake date become friends or allies or smth)
Enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers?
Neither really? That may be an unpopular opinion but 9 out of 10 times I'll prefer a good f(r)iendship to a full on romantic or sexual relationship.
Best friends to strangers with a past/enemies however is something I'm a sucker for, as well as enemies that remain enemies with increasingly flirtatious tendencies.
Hurt/comfort or amnesia?
I used to like the amnesia trope when I was younger, now I think it's kinda overdone sadly.
Hurt/comfort is something I've always been a sucker for xD
Fantasy AU or modern AU?
Don't really have a preference
Mutual pining or domestic bliss?
Mutual pining can get a bit tiring at some point if not done right, but so can domestic bliss if that's all you get, so I'd say both in moderation.
Smut or fluff?
Reincarnation or character death?
Reincarnation is a trope I don't use myself but like in other stuff (ATLA is one example.) Character death is something I like sparingly or within reason. I feel like it's rather difficult to make a character death hit hard and feel justified so I avoid using it when I can ^^;
One-shot or multi-chapter?
Multiple chapters that drag on for 8+ years and never actually get anywhere in my case
Kid fic or road trip fic?
Really depends on the characters involved for me, but I don't mind either.
Arranged marriage or accidental marriage?
Neither. I mean, they're fine but that's it for me. Not really big on marriage in my stories, simply because I never really saw the point of it.
High school romance or middle-age romance?
Definitely prefer middle-age romance.
High school romance is something I like to write about when it comes to my own characters, mainly because I like writing about their childhoods, but it's not really something I'm dying to read about in other stories at my age
Time travel or isolated together?
I ain't touching time travel with a ten foot pole, I enjoy the trope in other stories though, and I respect anyone who does it well ^^;
Isolated together has so much potential. I have at least one chapter with that trope lined up for Volatile xD
Neighbours or roommates?
Again no preference really, depends on the characters scenario etc.
Sci-fi AU or magic AU?
I like both, but chances are I go for the magic AUs first
Body swap or genderbent?
Mmmmh...Can't really say either of them is totally my thing. I don't mind when other people write about it, but personally I can rarely suspend my disbelief enough for those tropes to work for me.
Angst or crack?
Both, however when it comes to my own stuff definitely angst xD
I don't think Volatile would have any substance without it.
Apocalyptic or mundane?
I live for the mundane in stories, I think it's something that adds a lot of heart and soul to it, that is easily dismissed as unnecessary or filler.
That's one reason why I absolutely hate the writing tip "only write about the things that move the plot forward"
Maybe my character going to the store to buy cigarettes doesn't move the plot forward but it might set the atmosphere for something, or help establish the character a bit more.
Tagging: @flovoid @drawing-way-outside-the-lines @sillypotcookie @spnmoosejerk @dandylion240 @veone and @wolfavens (As always no pressure!)
Apocalyptic is nice too but I feel like like there's only so much you can do with that trope.
bcuz after seeing my first para get off the train and instantly become Ninja* himself, I restarted the game, but the level-up notifications kept coming in endlessly, so I just gave up.
*He mastered the ability to create clones and teleport at high speeds instantly.
