Man I really like Trace.

I think he’s honestly an interesting take on what a friendly rival is because there is something very interesting to what if one day you woke up and the kids you always protected and looked after no longer needed you in that way anymore. Think it fits well with a critique I’ve seen of the game that Trace doesn’t really feel like he has anything going on for him outside helping out the player.

Not to mention the whole Trace’s kindness holds him back in battling which makes me wonder if his heart just isn’t in it as a battler. (Which is a wild thing to say about someone who did become a champion.)

Little family shenanigans!

Red has liked video games since he was a child. as seen in @shirogane-no-satoshi, he claims to have played many Pokémon Dungeon games, along with some spin-off games like Pokémon Stadium

the names, "Red" "Green" and "Blue" are names that Red gave his closest friends (Shigeru and Aoba). the idea came from his mother, who saw his love of video games, and told him about color. colors of the TV, or any screen for that matter

Aoba was the first to be named—Blue. Satoshi said its because she had "Ao (Blue)" in her name

The problem was with Satoshi and Shigeru: Who would be red?

Satoshi said since Shigeru has green eyes (hazel), that he should be Green, but Shigeru complained that it sounded weak, and countered with "But [Satoshi] your eyes are blue!"

After a lot of bickering they ended up with Satoshi being Red, and Shigeru being Green because Satoshi was at least wearing red clothes (kid logic)

- Red and Green have a lot of parallels, but their biggest one is Red with Venusaur, and Green with Charizard (they have a Pokémon of each other's name) - this parallel... hurt even more, once Red "died" (once Red left)

fast forward to LGPE (still shaky in the story department) and its just Kantrio again (children and cousins)

Elaine is Blue's cousin

Trace (the rival kid) is 100% Red and Green's child, while Kakeru (Chase) is circulating between random ass kid and also being Red and Green's child

in which case, they also have color themed nicknames

since Kantrio is RGB, Neo Kantrio (LGPE) is CMY
