Lex Luthor- Extra (Smallville)
A part of you thought that the remainder of your senior year would be nothing but drama and chaos. After your not so friendly encounter with a crazy chick bent on being with Lex, life had actually taken a turn for the better. Lex was true to his word. He hadn’t told a soul of your abilities.
He’d even started gathering books about the medical condition. As you learned, this was a common result of people who experienced trauma. Your case was just more severe due to the amplifying effects of the meteor rocks. You sort of dedicated your life to such conditions like your own. It gave you a solid idea of what you wanted to achieve in the future.
“You’re going into medicine?”
Sitting in the cafe, you flipped through your text with a nod.
“I need to understand everything about what I’m capable of. This is the best way to do that. Thanks again for the books.” They were stacked at the side as you continued to breeze through one and Lex smiled. Putting his cheek in his palm as he watched you.
“There’s an internship in New York. If you want I can put in a good word for you.”
Interest sparked in your eyes, but your shoulders dropped after a few seconds.
“No I..if I do get in. I want to get there myself. I appreciate the offer though.” He nods.
“I understand. I’ll send you the information and you can apply after graduation.”
“Graduation..”
It was weird, it felt a bit surreal. Some part of your teenage brain thought you’d be there forever.
“Not getting cold feet are you?” He jokes. You finally place the book down, looking up at him. You had every intention to pursue your future outside of Smallville. But now it dawns on you. You wouldn’t be around your parents or friends as much depending on the route you decided to take. You wouldn’t see Lex for a while either.
“I just realized that we might not be able to have these meetings as often once I get into my dream college." You let out a soft laugh, and Lex straightens.
“Is it possible that you’ll miss me?”
He’s teasing again, and you huff.
“Jerk! Forget I said anything.” You grumble. You lift the hardcover book, blocking his face from your view, and Lex merely chuckles.
He reaches out, placing his palm over your own.
“I’ll miss you too. I know college is going to take your complete focus. But that doesn’t mean we won’t ever see each other. Whenever you need someone to talk to you, just give me a call.”
He squeezed your hand softly, and your heart gave a little flutter. You lower the book, cheeks a bit flushed.
“Don’t get kidnapped while I’m gone.”
Lex laughs. “I’ll do my best not to tempt any more unstable females. Promise.”
He’s still holding onto your hand. A part of you doesn’t want to let go. Because you aren’t certain how many more moments like this you’ll have with him.
“I’m really glad that I met you, Lex Luthor. Even under our circumstances.”
His smile gives you that familiar warmth.
“I feel the same way. "
Nothing was going to be the same as it was.
Change wasn’t always a bad thing.
