So I had my first experience with a doctor not giving me the care I needed and asked for yesterday. Specifically, I went in to get my IUD removed but the doctor persuaded me out of it. It was the whole reason I went in the first place and it wasn't an easy decision for me to make but it got to a point where I really wanted it out.

For context I wanted it removed because I don't like the fact that I no longer have a period with the IUD and that side effect has been messing with my sense of self and it really isn't necessary for me to have it at this point in my life. I am just frustrated about getting convinced out of it and am missing not having a period. Bleh :P I just miss the experience of having a period.

I’ve been seriously considering getting a vasectomy when I’m older. If I ever do end up with someone, it would take a huge load of their back. Plus, the thought of putting someone through a pregnancy upsets me greatly.

mixed feelings on how the internet approaches contraception options for people who can get pregnant. like on one hand, discussing side effects that have been historically underplayed is great. and gynaecological pain is so, so disregarded by medical professionals, that's important to mention too. on the other hand, so much fearmongering and just straight up missinformation is propped up on these real experiences as part of a regressive agenda. this focus on fertility and attacks on birth control is horrible, and im sorry, but young women quitting the pill willy nilly and getting pregnant is a horrible thing. and please let's stop acting like the criticism the combination pill garners invalidates *all* birth control options (plenty are non hormonal even!!). and it's all because some trad people want to sell courses on "healing their hormones" and "divine feminine" bullshit?

that's preaching to the choir, i know, but because of that i was scared shitless for my iud insertion and it was literally Just Fine. i wouldn't know to be high as balls on xanax for the procedure without women sharing their stories, but the fear i endured for no reason?? folks there has be a responsible way to to this i can't anymore

The fact that any birth control women pick comes with some crazy side effects like 50% of the time (my statistic not factually checked) like hormones that cause acne, or weight gain or depression!! Is insane and even tho I got the non normal birth control my PERIODS ARE SUPER HEAVY NOW??

Real respect to the people who naturally had heavy periods bc I can't imagine being a teenager and dealing with all this blood and pain in highschool 😭
