AHMANET EL SAYED ~ AGE: 27 ~ OCCUPATION: MUSEUM CURATOR
IN A PAST LIFE:
Many times throughout the years, humanity has been plagued by The Mummy’s Curse. One of these mummies was that of an ancient Egyptian princess named Ahmanet. The Pharaoh’s only child and therefore his heir, she was set to become the next ruler of Egypt. However, things took a turn when the Pharaoh’s new wife gave birth to a son, and he took Ahmanet’s place as the heir to the throne. Enraged, Ahmanet took desperate measures, performing a ritual to call on the god of death and asking Him to grant her unholy powers to take back the crown that was rightfully hers. However, her plans were thwarted, and she was mummified alive as punishment for her crimes. When her spirit was unleashed centuries later, she wreaked havoc upon the mortal realm; until she was ultimately defeated. When her body was once again sealed away, her soul was transported to the town of Chicanery.
HERE IN CHICANERY:
Raised by a well-to-do family in Cairo, Ahmanet El Sayed has been ambitious for as long as she can remember. She figured out very early on in life that she had to fight to be taken seriously, to accomplish the goals she had set for herself. So fight she did, and thus she’s built up a very intimidating, almost frightening sort of presence. But beneath her thick skin, there lies fear, deep-seated insecurities, and vulnerability that she keeps locked deep down inside where no one can see it. She travelled to America to make a name for herself as soon as she could, wanting to put her hard-earned education to good use. She is fluent in several languages and has studied ancient history and archaeology, going so far as to get a master’s degree. These skills and accomplishments earned her a well-suited job as a curator at Chicanery’s one and only history museum, where she believes herself to be most happy. As much as she dislikes dealing with tourists and misses her beloved father dearly, she misses her distant stepmother, her whiny little half-brother, and the stifling environment of Cairo a lot less. If anything, the small-town atmosphere is a welcome change for her.
WHISPERS AROUND TOWN:
Ahmanet tends to intimidate people, and thus isn’t exactly good at making friends. Even so, there are plenty of prominent figures around town that she finds herself intrigued by. Edward Penn-Weiss asks a lot of questions and tends to lurk, traits she finds in equal parts aggravating and amusing. She has a soft spot for those who share her interest in academia, such as Hannibal Lecter and Percival “Pinhead” Orsino. Despite not being much older than the community college students of the town, she struggles to relate to them; feeling much older than she really is. As a result, she finds kindred spirits in the likes of Kayako Saeki and Tiffany Ray; older women with more life experience. She strongly dislikes the town groundskeeper Freddy Krueger, though she is curious about the stranger who has just arrived in town, Paxton Vega.

Name: Golde Woods
Character: Bashful from Snow White & the Seven Dwarves
Age: 25
Occupation: Student at PU
Degree: Classical Dance
Faceclaim: Sofia Boutella
Played by: OPEN
+ Kind, Gentle, Reliable - Shy, Passive, Submissive
Golde didn’t speak until she was five years old. She was abandoned as a baby and was in the foster care system her entire life, until she was adopted by the Woods. She learned early on that it was better to be quiet and submissive than to draw attention to herself. It took her a while to tear down her walls and open up to her siblings, but when she did and found she was still accepted, she gradually came out of her shell. However, old habits are hard to break, and she often retreats into her silence and introversion as a defense mechanism.
She’s very grateful for her siblings for loving her and helping her, but she tends to prefer being alone, away from the chaos of her large household. She lives on campus in order to have time to herself to discover her own wants and needs that she’s kept repressed all these years.
                           ~ Connections ~
Blanca Snow ~ Golde loves Blanca. The other was very kind and gentle to her, and Golde took to her almost immediately because of this. She wishes she could do more to help Blanca with her situation.
Slate Woods ~ Golde’s (secret) favorite sibling. Slate was always gentle with her from the beginning, and she grew very attached to him as a result. She was often the one to take care of him when he got sick, and she still comes home from school to care for him when he does now.

They tell stories about girls like you. Horror stories, tales of little girls whose innocence was clipped like doves’ wings and who never quite had the right light behind their eyes. You fooled them for a while, and perhaps you fooled yourself; your life was meant to be more than this, the facade insisted. You were meant to be more than this. You were born for braids, pigtails, Sunday dresses; but circumstances change, and disquietude blooms like ill-planted flowers where they are not meant to grow. You were suffocated in a greenhouse of your own design, a bloom upon a vine and not a stem, reaching for the glass ceiling and curling against the steamed glass; your mother and father had yearned for a different daughter, and for a time you tried to be that for them, to trim your ivy and plant your roots. But funeral orchids cannot grow in a bed of roses - and so you ran. You ran and you found yourself more alive and flourishing than ever before upon the road. You found quick work in the city, for Paris takes in outcasts and bastards as if they are its own. All you’d taken with you was your journal and your favorite fountain pen, and with it at your side you felt a lady knight with sword and shield; you could do anything without shackles upon your ankles. You fell into the world like a bird born with eagle’s wings, almost too late, and almost too quickly; you took up a job photographing a burlesque troupe in the fourth arrondissement, and just as quickly writing reviews to publish in the paper praising it. You took their photographs - and danced when the nights dragged on, when the wine flowed, when the prima dancer amongst them all squeezed your hand just the way you adored. You grew from Sunday best to crimson velvet and pinot noir, a muse in all its forms and a poet in your uncanny ability to immortalize the all too mortal. You became.
And then you disappeared when she did, if only for a time. You’d known that so many of the girls in the troupe had their hands in riskier business than their nightly jobs, but you’d never thought that you would fall for the one to disappear for good. You love her like you’ve never loved anything before. She was the muse to your poet; you wrote fiction and reality with her at the heart. You took photos, hung them on the walls you shared. And then she simply vanished, leaving behind nothing but a horrid trail of cryptic clues that lead to more dead ends than open ones. After a period of disquietude and despondency, you threw your efforts into finding a position with connections - investigative journalism was the cover you needed and the security you desired, the life vest strapped firmly about your shoulders as you descended into the underworld with only one motive in mind. Find her. Find her. You know that they have her, that they are at the heart of her disappearance. The Fausts, the new players in the grand game of Parisian chess; you have always been a vein of intrusive ivy, a lecherous choke. And you will squeeze the truth from them if it means returning your love to the light once more.Â
informants: edmond ledoux, samir robert, zhu lau, fleur renardÂ
targets: karia faust, vitantonio damiana, antonin petrovic, rahim ahmadi
trusts: raoul chaney, veronica perez, madalene giry
OMAR FAUST
You know that he had something to do with it, with your girlfriend’s disappearance. He comes and goes from the church that you’ve seen her emerge from so often, speaks to that priest whose mere presence screams danger. And he looks at you as if he knows something, as if he dangles a feather before your eyes, as if he yearns to let you grab at it for but a moment. You can smell the hell upon him; so why does he spend so much time between the stained glass windows of a cathedral? You plan to find out.Â
ODESSA FAUSTÂ
The youngest, and perhaps the most vulnerable of the family you so wish to expose; kindness has proved weakness once before, and so you wish to woo the viper in any way you can, at risk of being bitten. She is the easiest in, the quickest way to the vault of Faust secrets; she is, however, an impossible mask to peer behind, for it is so colored with vitriol. But there is nothing you wouldn’t do, no depths to which you would not sink. You will peer behind the mask, bait the snake, do whatever you must - as long as you get answers.Â
JOSEPH BUQUETÂ
He is perhaps the most reliable source that you have found thus far - and the least reputable. But you have found that the most rough-around-the-edges sources are usually the ones with the best information, and you would do anything, and pry into the secrets of anyone, for the information you need. You are an investigative journalist, after all - though you are more of a hound than most in your line of work. Your investigations are personal; you have nothing to lose. He seems to know this, to use this - but you don’t care. As long as you get the information you desire, there are no lengths to which you will not go. You scratch his back, he scratches yours.Â

Basira Allouche âś– 35 âś– Owner, Writer, and Producer at NAME âś– Sexuality Up To Writer
‣ BIOGRAPHY ↴
Corn fields, that was what Basira Allouche was born into, growing up in a small town in Ohio. She lived there until the age of fourteen when she was sent to live with her grandmother in Augusta, Georgia. Her mother was a heroin addict who overdosed when she was eleven years old and it took years to find another family member to send the little girl to live with. Basira had never known her father, though in her older years she assumed he was likely also an addict. She became a ward of the state of Ohio until the age of fourteen, when her grandmother was finally able to adopt, after years of trying to gain custody of her. Mimi, as Basira would affectionately come to call her, was seventy-six when she finally came to live with her only known family member in Georgia. Basira’s grandmother used what little money was left to place her grandchild in private school, and began a trust fund in Basira’s name.
Basira was an exceptional student and eventually earned scholarships to every school she had applied. Ultimately, she chose to remain in Georgia to be near her grandmother. At Georgia Tech, she studied journalism. Basira had a particular interest in learning other languages because she her heart was set on traveling the world as a freelance journalist. However, during the last semester of her senior year, she was recruited by CIA and was hired as an analyst. After graduation, she went on to the “farm” where she completed her training and then worked for a few years as a counterintelligence threat analyst and was later promoted to a case officer. Stationed in Afghanistan, she spent five years first learning the many languages and dialects spoken in the area and then began to gather intelligence. Basira enjoyed her work and felt good about being a part of something so meaningful. Eventually, Basira’s cover was blown and after a failed attempt on her life she was forced to return to the United States.
Now, Basira owns a production company. While that may seem like a stretch from her previous line of work, she now writes and produces movies and television shows that focus on CIA and military intelligence. The money earned from her projects, along with private contributions from her fundraising efforts go toward financing anti-trafficking operations. Thanks to her late Mimi, she lives off her trust fund and dedicates her life to giving back. While her new life may not seem as exciting as it once was, she is happy to still be changing the world for the better. Her decision to join The Network was largely based on her hope of getting to know people in a controlled and secure setting. After all, it wasn’t so long ago that she was running into people that wanted her dead.

Basics;
Name: Amira Salem Age: Twenty-Eight Occupation: Drug Trafficker Loyalty: Byrne Faceclaim: Sofia Boutella Availability: Open
In Brief;
Amira Salem; headstrong and independent. She wouldn’t ever let anyone take care of her. She’s too strong for her own good, constantly putting others’ needs ahead of her own.
+ independent, compassionate, intelligent - deceptive, restless, unforgiving
History;
Amira Salem never knew either of her parents. Her mother was a heroin addict, and left as soon as she was born, but her father raised her as best he could. Until, however, he was shot when she was only three years old. Amira lived with her Uncle after that, but she always felt like a burden on the already struggling man. His wife and two kids were warm and welcoming, but an extra mouth to feed was never easy, even if she was family. By the time she was fifteen, Amira felt like she out stayed her welcome. Twelve years of food, clothes, and shelter were enough. She wasn’t going to be reliant on them, or anyone else for that matter, any more. After running away, it wasn’t hard finding work.
In her neighbourhood, it wasn’t exactly difficult to find a drug dealer. Even as a young girl, she knew she had looks that could kill. It was easy to convince one of them to introduce her to their boss, and even easier to get hired. Drug dealing wasn’t the ideal career path, but it got the job done. Getting someone to rent to a kid, however, was a whole other problem. Eventually, Amira found a small apartment above a store that didn’t ask too many questions. She worked diligently for the Byrnes, making enough money to pay rent and put food on her table. But she was young and the work was dangerous. It wasn’t long before one of her clients tried to take advantage of her small frame. He pulled a knife on her, giving her matching scars on both her cheeks before he took her stash and ran. Amira went to Cillian Byrne in tears, terrified of going to his father about what happened. She was barely seventeen; Cillian couldn’t be mad at her even if he tried.
From that point on, Amira learned a new trade. She didn’t feel comfortable on the streets anymore, scared out of her mind of ending up like her father. So, she was sent on convoys filled with a heavily armed detail and drugs. Trafficking was higher risk, but a different kind of risk. Amira didn’t have to worry about a man with a knife. She had people with guns to back her up. She caught on quickly and her new job was a much better fit than dealing. It paid better, too. Soon enough, Amira had enough money to rent a much nicer apartment. Over the years, the Byrnes became her family and she loved them as much as she loved the people who took care of her when she was a child. Still, she had a hard time ever asking for anything. When Cillian was killed, she knew it was her turn to stand by the Byrnes the way they stood by her.
