Location: King's Landing, on the third week of the 10th month of 21 AC, Event 02, Chapter 2

The bells of King’s Landing rang clear beneath a cloudless sky as the great gates of the newly constructed Red Keep stood open in deliberate welcome. Banners of crimson and black stirred in the sea breeze, and the Grand Hall had been transformed into a vision of royal splendour. Long tables draped in silk stretched beneath tall windows crowned with garlands, while braziers burned low in the midday light. Lords and ladies from across the realm were ushered within as musicians played bright, lilting melodies, as if to soften the late-summer heat. When all had finally gathered, the King rose from his place upon the Iron Throne. Sunlight caught upon the dark metal of the crown upon his brow as he surveyed the assembled nobility. His voice carried easily across the vast hall. “Lords, ladies, lieges of the realm, and our esteemed Dornish allies. You honour us with your presence. Today we gather not merely to celebrate the completion of our majestic Red Keep, but to mark a new chapter in the life of this kingdom. These walls, raised from stone and sacrifice, stand as testament to our shared future. Let this day be one of fellowship, of renewed bonds, and of prosperity yet to come. “And it is in that spirit of unity that I have one further announcement to make, one that I trust will bring great joy to this assembled realm. My son eldest son, Crown Prince Aenyx Targaryen shall be wed to Lady Rosalyn Tyrell, on the seventh day of our festivities. May this union strengthen the bonds between the Crown and the Reach, and may the joining of these two houses bring prosperity and peace to generations yet unborn.” For several moments, the hall seemed almost stunned into silence. Then came the reactions. From the Tyrell tables, pride and delight erupted almost immediately. Smiles spread across the faces of the Reachmen, glasses were raised, and congratulations passed rapidly amongst the family and their allies. A marriage to the Crown Prince was an extraordinary elevation for House Tyrell, and few could conceal their satisfaction at the King's unexpected announcement. Elsewhere, however, the response was markedly different. Amongst the Dornish delegation, surprise hardened into unmistakable discomfort. It had been only recently that the Crown had dissolved Aenyx's previous betrothal to Princess Jeyne Martell. Several Martells exchanged startled glances, while others watched the Tyrell celebration with considerably less enthusiasm. Whatever diplomatic smiles were offered, the announcement could not help but feel abrupt—and to some, perhaps even deliberate. Yet Aegon continued as though he had expected precisely such a mixture of reactions. “Let us not allow old disappointments to overshadow new beginnings. Today is a day of celebration. Let us raise our cups to Crown Prince Aenyx and Lady Rosalyn, to House Tyrell and to the enduring unity of the realm.” With a measured gesture, he then invited the assembled nobility to sit and dine as one. Servants moved swiftly, bearing platters of roasted meats glazed in honey and spice, fresh river trout, citrus-dressed greens, Dornish dates, Arbor vintages, and sweet cream pastries dusted with sugar. Laughter rose hesitantly at first, then warmer and fuller as cups were lifted in salute. Above them all, the Red Keep loomed proud and newly finished, its red stone gleaming beneath the sun as if the fortress itself listened to the promises made within its shadow.
