14. Favourite Snape line/moment?

For line it would have to be his “I can teach you to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses” one. Straight away it just has this purring, seductive flair for poetry and the dramatics (also in the film we see Draco looking at him like he’s literally the coolest thing in the world, which is freaking adorable).

I also like the fact that they mention that in duelling club he beat most of the seventh years when he was in his first year. I mean imagine being an 18 year old that has practised duelling for years and your arse just gets handed to you by some smirking 11 year old. Damn lil Sev. 

18. What’s an aspect of his character you wish more people would explore?

Two things. 

His sense of humour, and his attitude to money.

First of all, Severus is fucking funny. People don’t seem to realise this. He often gives snarky, sarcastic responses. He takes the piss constantly and will only give a little smirk afterwards. He has a sense of humour, and I’m sure away from Harry and when alone he will laugh. Occasionally.

Secondly, Severus grew up in poverty. When you grow up in a household where money is always a constant worry it feeds into every day life. Even if you grow into a position where you’re quite well off, little frugal nit-picky habits follow you. I’d like to see this, the effect it’s had on him more. I mean I’m pretty sure this is a boy that had plain toast for dinner because all they had left in the pantry is stale bread.

26. How do you think Snape’s first day/year/etc of teaching went?

At first I didn’t realise this was teaching and I was just imagining Severus discovering what it’s like to eat food that tastes good.

So his first time teaching would have been incredibly difficult. We need to realise that this was a man that was TWENTY-ONE YEARS OLD.

Not only that, but he had to teach students who had been in school with him when his worst memory happened. Although he saw Hogwarts as his ‘real home’ I do imagine he was happy to get away and find his own way in the wizarding world - only for his “friends” to turn out to be grooming terrorists. Oh boy.

I think as a result of this he would’ve still been his twitchy, panicky, looking-over-his-shoulder hypervigilant young man he was while a student. Therefore I think he would’ve been harsher, angrier, quicker with punishments to try and prove a point - to try and prevent them from daring to bully him again because he just can’t handle that happening. Essentially, his mental health issues, especially his PTSD, would’ve added to him being angry, panicky, frustrated, and overall hash on students.
