Headmaster-era Snape is sooo good...Wallowing in his office while knowing everyone in the castle hates him... Specifically Minerva, who must have been so openly disgusted and angry and disappointed (in HBP when he walks in to assess the cursed necklace and she says "oh, Severus" with pure relief—and then he kills and usurps Dumbledore's position only months later)...His ability to be a perfect spy and give nothing away and yet, gives Neville, Ginny, and Luna the most lax punishment ever for trying to steal the Sword of Gryffindor...Hagrid got caught throwing a "support Harry Potter party" and was definitely gonna get punished as fuck and yet somehow escapes...Headmaster Snape I see you!!!

Severitus & Lily
One thing I dislike in some of the Severitus stories I’ve read, is the way Lily’s place in Severus’ heart is eclipsed and almost erased by that of Harry.
Yes, it is probably healthier for him to care for and love a living person rather than forever clutching onto memories of a dead person.
But I don’t care for it.
Severus should be able to love Harry in his own right and still never be able to truly get over Lily, what she meant to him as a ray of sunshine in a dark childhood, how he forced that light away with his own hands or his own guilt in killing her.
Interestingly, Severitus could be a way for those feelings regarding Lily to intensify, as he experiences what could have been, what possibly should have been (in his mind). Their son.
At the end of the day, I think Severus had such a specific bond with Lily and spent far too long immersed in guilt and self-hatred over killing her that he will never truly get past her or heal, even if he is able to become a better person and love others.
The only way I ever see him gaining that level of true closure is if Lily is literally resurrected. His Lily, the one he has done wrong to, not some other Lily like in time travel fics.
Longing and regret are just so central to his character.
He’s spent most of his life loving and regretting Lily Potter, that she is in many ways now forever a part of him. Just like how his Patronus is her.
PS: This little stream of consciousness was prompted by my reflecting on a story where Severus’ Patronus changes to reflect Harry instead of Lily. I must admit to have found myself a little bit annoyed at that.
Of course, I’m not dictating what is right and wrong or what others should do in their own wonderful stories, just merely giving my personal view and pet peeve.
