i really like the mitsu pfp but i had to make it on brand for pride month
he better watch out. big strong muscular trans men with lots of facial and body hair are the fucking best
What's the lore on mitsu and musgravite?
scuttles in like a strange little beast
i am Once Again answering on my work break so i will do my best to be fast and concise
mitsu and musgravite both come from a mountain range that has a lot of names depending on the native tongue calling it, but in common its known as the western shield, or sometimes just the shield. the shield is where dwarves, orcs and dragonborn on the continent almost entirely hail from, and this area is known for barbarian lifestyles and the such that would be considered less """civilized""" (to a colonizer atleast!)
mitsus home tribe was attacked and destroyed by giants when he was a child. he, of course, was unable to help his people, and so was orphaned. i think this event is a lot of what compounded his hero complex. he was probably around, 5 or 6?
he wandered into a metallic dragonborn tribe where he was taken in by a family of silver dragons. they had a son of a similar age to mitsu named musgravite, and they grew up together. when they were teens they left together to study combat at a school in dawnspire (big big city). it was here they met the rest of their party. musgravite notably made a paladins oath of redemption, swearing himself to the lifelong ideal that stealing a chance at self improvement from someone is evil.
this was when the mage war struck. the party endeavored to stop noonathor and save lives. nearing the end of the war, the continent devastated, mitsu brewed his plan to imprison noonathor and use his power. musgravite was the only person he trusted with these plans, but musgravite was horrified by the idea. not only did he think this would only lead to more trouble in the future and that the charade couldnt hold forever, more importantly he thought this was immoral and went against his oath of honour. musgravite felt he had no choice but to stop mitsu with force, knowing deep down that mitsu was stronger and he couldnt defeat him. but he had to try, and unfortunately his assumptions were right and mitsu ended up slaying him
this was a point of no return for mitsu. he had never been so low. he spun a story to the party and set it up to look like noonathor had murdered musgravite, and he was a cesspool of vengeful thoughts until he conquered noonathor and ended the mage war.
mitsu found a new source of joy in the elation from the people of the continent. everyone was grateful, everyone was hailing him, people were *listening and seeing him.* he saved everyone. surely musgravites sacrifice was worth this? it was going to be. he would only keep making things better
a bit of a side note, but in mitsus efforts to create one nation of the continent, he pointedly leaves the western shield out of these efforts. being raised there amongst the tribes and clans, he thinks it would be immoral to squash their cultures and force them to fall under more empire-like rule. he may be a murderous exploiter whos willing to twist the narrative to make him the good guy no matter what, but hes no colonizer!
Who's Mitsu? The orc?
SITS UP. HOLY SHIT
well to be pedantic hes a Half orc but yes that ones mitsu
to tldr because im on lunch and i dont have a lot of time hes an npc in the d&d campaign im running. introduced as a hero who, after winning a war against a necromancer lich with the help of his party members, rallied the empires and kingdoms (for the most part) of the continent together to form a coalition as a safeguard against more tragedy in the future.
in reality mitsu is a twist villain and the bbeg but itll be a long long time before my party gets to learn that. instead of killing the lich noonathor, mitsu has him inprisoned and is leeching his magic power to create innovations for his capital city of dawnspire. mitsu shed a lot of blood to keep noonathor's imprisonment secret, and is willing and ready to shed more. he believes himself a saviour. he Has to be the hero of the continent, he Has to be widely loved, and he will do anythimg to keep it that way.
the plot of the campaign mainly revolves around mitsu allowing the cult of tiamat to progress despite knowing of their actions, in hopes that they will help tiamat rise and he will be the one to vanquish her back to avernus. surely, in defeating the evil dragon queen, everyone will again know why he is so beloved, and the stubborn kingdoms refusing to fall under his new rule will have no logical choice but to assimilate as well
EDIT TO ADD: omg mut i see your ask and i will elaborate more on musgra when i get a second teehee heehehhee
when your adopted brother starts spewing some evil plans out of left field and you're realizing mid conversation you're gonna have to kill him
