Situations where someone thinks another character was hurt/killed

there was a terrorist attack or a catastrophe on the news and Character B should have been where it happened, but they weren't

Character B's car gets into a horrific accident and the police inform Character A of a casualty, but B wasn't driving their car at the time

something happened and Character B gets transported to the hospital, it's a case of the telephone game and the story gets so misconstrued until it reaches Character A that they hear Character B had died and wasn't just injured

both characters are on the phone with each other and when there is loud bang and the phone is dead, Character A is panicking, but Character B just dropped their phone

Character B goes into the ocean for a swim and doesn't return and can't be located by lifeguards and Character A, but later it turns out, they just went ashore at another point and just now came back to Character A

Character B is being shot at and a bullet strikes them in the chest and they fall, but unbeknownst to Character A they were wearing a bulletproof vest, saving their life
