Green bean casserole from scratch ~ no cans !
It's cooling... it smells phenomenal in my house, right now!!! Good thing I made a salad while it was cooking or I'd be eating it piping hot, right out of the oven. 😁🤣🤭😋 as you can see, it's very brown on top. That's because I sprinkled the top with grated parmesan reggiano cheese. I love the flavor of that cheese when it browns. It's nutty, just like me!!
It's cool enough... I just ate the piece in the picture and another one, too!! It's delicious!! Next time, I'm going to parbake the crust, before filling it, so it's even more crispy, but it's fine like this. I added more ingredients than the recipe said to use so I added more moisture, in doing so. Parbaking would be able to handle that extra moisture better. The crust is still light and flaky and crispy, but I like things very crispy so.... I'm not complaining, at all. I want a third piece, but portion control is very important to me so I'll have one for breakfast. There's only so much lard and butter one should eat in a day and I have hit my limit. The lard and butter are what make the crust so tender and flaky and delicious so it's worth it, to me... it's it morning, yet? How about now? 😉😁🤣🤭
