"Lessons In Flying"

“Can you even fly with these?” Uzi tugged on the feeble wing in her hand, face scrunched up in confusion at the meager size of them. She’d always been bold, fearless of most people and dragons she met - and those two weren’t any exception. “They’re so… tiny.”

“Hands off! Don’t touch me, what’s wrong with you?!” Yanking her wing out of the dragoness’s grip, V snarled and bared her fangs at her, tucking the limb closely to her body and onto her back, crossing her arms in the meantime.

The wild dragon’s boldness to simply touch her like that felt off to her, and knowing that their weapons wouldn’t even truly be of use with it enhanced her nervousness. “And of course I can fly. Every dragon can.”

She rolled her eyes, barely missing Uzi’s face lighting up with a mischievous grin. Immediately V regretted ever bursting out with this lie of hers, knowing that this wouldn’t go well in any capacity. Her worries became immediately clear as the wild dragon began circling her, head tilted.

“Well then, big girl,” Uzi dared. “Show me.”

“S-show you?” A stutter escaped V’s snout before she could hold herself back. “How?”

“We got a little cliff side not far from here.” Nodding towards North, Uzi’s head tilt became more pronounced - and so did her smile. “I can show you.”

N knew that V wasn’t going to back down from this, and knowing that she’d just lied and was certainly bringing herself into a dangerous situation, he took a step forward.

“Actually, we can’t fl-,” he began, finding himself rudely interrupted by V’s hand placed directly over his mouth. N’s brows furrowed and he stared at her, confused and a bit taken aback by her silencing him so abruptly. How dare she!

“We can.” V’s voice reflected the nervous grin on her face perfectly. “Let’s not waste any time then. Show me the cliff.”

As Uzi turned around to lead the way, V turned her head to N, her eyes filled with the same kind of spark and flame he had seen so many times - always extinguished by J or the Elliot’s, and he knew that his sister wasn’t going to let go of this.

Not even if he argued with her. Gone was her nervousness, her underlying fear, gone in a wash of a sudden ego hurt, knowing she had to defend her honor, even if it was comical in nature to bring herself into danger over it.

Deep down, she knew that it was stupid, hell, foolish even. But what else could she do? She’d be seething for weeks if she backed down now.

“Don’t ruin this for me,” she hissed, venom lacing her tongue. An odd way of marking her words, and it did sting deep inside, even though N remained quiet and did not dare protesting her.
