Episode one of my original tv series ĖŹā”ÉĖ
Extra notes: Pictures are not mine both are from Pinterest. Feedback and tips are appreciated!! If this is difficult to read Iām so sorry. I donāt know how to format a screenplay yet :(
The episode opens with Oliva starting her car to drive to work.
Iām going to be so lateā¦
Oliva mumbles this while starting her car.
Oliva unlocks the lab doors using a keycard and rushes inside.
Oliva grumbles as she searches around the room.
We donāt know. We havenāt seen her all morning.
A-12 is crawling through the vents of the lab and listening in on the conversation.
No one has seen A-12? Seriously?
Sheās not our responsibility. Youāre supposed to look after her.
A-12 continues to crawl through the vents of the lab before bumping her head.
Lab worker #2 hears A-12 bump her head against the vents. She takes a gun from her back pocket and aims it at the ceiling.
Oliva pushes the workerās gun down with her hand.
A-12 shuts her eyes and places her hand on her heart. She takes a deep breath in.
So are you going to find your patient or not, Oliva?
Oliva sighs and rubs her forehead.
Oliva searches under the laboratoryās beds.
A-12 continues to crawl through the vents carefully.
A-12 whispers as she tries to open the final vent. There is clear panic in her voice. It opens and she immediately falls out face first.
She pushes herself up from the ground. She covers her eyes seeing the bright sun. The lab is in the middle of nowhere. Thereās nothing for miles. She looks back at the lab before running off. She doesnāt stop until she reaches a town. She pants and tries to catch her breath. A group of townspeople pass by her and glance at her before laughing to themselves. Camera flips to them briefly before flipping back to A-12. A-12 looks down at her dirty hospital gown.
INT. SCHOOL BUILDING - 3:50 P.M. (TWO WEEKS LATER)
A-12 steps through the door of the high schoolās office. We see her in different clothing here, a white sweater and worn jeans. She looks around the office before seeing the front desk woman flipping through papers in the distance.
Hello! Iād like to enroll here.
A-12 says to the front desk worker. The woman in the distance takes a seat at the front desk.
Did you fill out the paperwork, hon?
A-12 shakes her head. The woman hands A-12 a stack of papers with a smile.
Talk to me once youāve finished that, mākay?
A-12 fills out the paperwork in one of the officeās chairs. She writes āA-12ā in the name section before scribbling it out. She pauses to think for a moment and then writes the name āCassieā instead. She pauses again at the last name line. She looks down at her white sweater and writes the name āWhiteā. In the age section she writes ā17 (I think?)ā. She finishes the rest of the paperwork and stands up from her seat.
Cassie nods before handing her the stack.
Letās see⦠Whoās your guardian, dear?
The woman skims over the papers.
Iā¦I donāt think I have one.
Oh⦠No one, youāre sure?
My mother, Oliva, maybe. Itās been awhile since I saw her.
Okay⦠then I guess youāre good to go?
The woman has a bit of confusion in her voice as she continues to read the papers. Cassieās paperwork seems suspicious to her.
She asks before setting the paperwork on her desk.
Okay, hon, school starts at 9:00am.
Mākay. Iāll see you tomorrow. What a strange girlā¦
She mumbles the last sentence before answering the phone.
Cassie exits the school building and spots the sports teams practicing. She notices the girls soccer team first. She stares for a moment (specifically at Tara Field)(camera flips to her) before walking away.
Cassie steps into a cafe. Itās decorated nicely with plants and pink wallpaper. The food is okay. Most people say itās too bland. She grabs her apron and heads to counter. A customer walks up.
The cafeās boss shakes his head. Cassie steps away to go speak with the boss.
Whatās your name? Yesterday you told me it was a bunch of numbers and I donāt believe that.
A-12? Well, that is my name, I guess. You can call me Cassie if you want to.
The boss takes out a notebook and writes the name āCassieā.
Iāll get you a name tag at some point. Go on. Oh, and you seem scattered. I hope you can keep this job.
He shoos her away. She returns to the counter. Another barista walks past her and whispers something to her.
Donāt worry, it's not a hard job.
Cassie smiles a little bit. Another customer walks up.
Hi! Do you want to order something?
INT. CAFE - 10:00 P.M. (SIX HOURS LATER)
Oh, I think my shift is over. Isnāt it?
She mumbles as she walks away from the tables sheās served. Thereās only two tables full at this time. She hangs up her apron. She walks to the phone hanging on the wall. She rubs her eyes before punching in a number.
Hi! Um⦠I need a ride to my apartment.
Three dollars? I think I have thatā¦
She reaches into her pocket and pulls out twenty dollars.
Cassie sits on the sidewalk waiting for her ride. Her cab arrives and she steps into the vehicle. She hands the driver her cash.
Spoker apartment complex.
Cassie leans against the carās window and watches her surroundings.
She thanks the driver before stepping out of the car.
INT. SPOKER APARTMENT COMPLEX - 10:30 P.M.
Cassie walks up the final step before reaching her apartment. She hears two people speaking in the distance. She leans on a wall. She stays to listen. The camera shifts to them briefly.
I never see anyone else with herā¦
She must live with someone. She looks sixteen.
The neighbors are clearly talking about Cassie. The camera turns back to her. She unlocks the door and steps inside. Itās rather empty. The only decorations being a single bed and photos of her and Oliva sitting on the counter by the microwave. She takes off her shoes at the door. She pulls off her work clothes and changes into a too large T-shirt instead. She then plops onto her bed and goes to sleep.
INT. APARTMENT - 8:00 A.M.
Cassie wakes up and sits up from her bed. The sun peeks through her window. She stretches and stands up from her bed.
INT. BATHROOM - 8:03 A.M.
Cassieās bathroom is small. Cassie brushes her teeth and hair. Camera angle gives a full body view in this scene.
Cassie opens her closet door to look for an outfit. The only clothing items are two pairs of jeans, a t-shirt, and a sweater. She decides on jeans and a white t-shirt.
Cassie is now dressed. She slides her shoes on before getting ready to leave. The only pair of shoes she owns are black low top converse so of course she wears those. She grabs a light brown colored backpack and leaves her apartment.
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY
Cassie stands in the hallway trying to open her locker.
Hey.. Do you need any help?
The girl asking the question is the same shown at the school earlier in the episode.
The girl steps in front of her locker.
Cassie looks down at the piece of paper in her hand.
She says reading it off the paper.
Okay so first you turn it right, then left, and then right again.
She says as she puts her backpack into her locker.
Oh, awesome, so I am! You joined just in time school just started last week.
Yeah, um, I hope I didnāt miss anything.
No, donāt worry. Oh, my nameās Tara by the way. You can sit with me at lunch if you want to.
Oh, thank you. My name is Cassie.
We should probably get to class. You donāt want to be late on your first day.
Youāre right. I guess I should go. Uh, bye!
She waves as Tara walks away waving back.
INT. PHOTOGRAPHY ROOM - DAY
Cassie sits down at a table in the photography room.
We have a new student here today. Hereās your camera, Cassie.
He sets a Canon camera near her.
For the semester. If you know how to take photos.
Sure. have someone in here teach you how to work it.
The boy walks over to help Cassie and takes her camera.
Okay so look, you twist this thing to zoom in. Then, you twist it the opposite way to zoom out.
The boy tells her while twisting the focal length ring.
Iāveā¦never taken a picture before. Iāve seen one.
Never? Not even on your phone?
Iāve never had a phone.
Oh.. Huh. Well this button here takes the picture.
He hands the camera to Cassie. She takes it and starts twisting the focal ring. Then, a girl walks up to her.
Did he show you how to change the settings?
You act like you know everything but you canāt even show her how to get into the settings
She takes the camera from Cassie.
I was trying to use itā¦
Sorry! Iām trying to help you here.
Cassie looks to the other side of the classroom and starts to lose focus. The camera shifts from her to her classmates. One student is taking a photo with her friends, another is taking a photo of a bird outside the window, and another is arguing with another student.
People areā¦odd. Theyāre all so different. I guess I already knew that to some extent but itās been more clear to me today. I wonder how long theyāve known each other.
(camera returns to the students taking photos with her friends)
And I wonder why sheās so mad at him
(camera shifts to the arguing students)
I wish I knew people. I know Tara? Didnāt she say that was her name?
This is said in the distance and is not heard at full volume.
I think so. Anyway, I do know her now. She seemsā¦what word is again? Oh, she seems cool.
Hey, Cassie? Iām trying to show you something.
Oh, I knew that. Sorry, yeah, Iām sorry.
See you click these two buttons and then you can adjust the settings from here.
Thank you! When do I change the settings?
Justā¦whenever your photo looks wrong, you know?
Yeah. Well the way you said it makes it sound so artistic like there is no wrong butā¦yeah you can definitely take a bad photo.
Justā¦try taking some photos. Youāre making it sound too artsy.
I donāt know what that means.
Justā¦take some photos. Iām sure theyāll be great.
The girl hands Cassieās camera back to her. The bell for the next class rings. Cassie takes her new camera and puts it into the school provided camera bag. She then heads to her next class. When she enters the classroom she notices Tara again. Tara is laughing with her friends in a corner. Cassie immediately reaches for her camera bag and takes her camera from it. She takes a photo and then goes to view it on the screen. The picture is lightly out of focus but regardless Cassie says:
Tara notices Cassie looking down at her camera and waves for her to come over.
Come sit with us, Cassie! Class is starting!
Cassie walks over to the group of kids and takes a seat near them. The scene shifts to Tara and her friends. Two girls are talking and smiling. A boy is laughing with another boy. Tara is in between all of them looking directly at Cassie.
INT. SCHOOL BUILDING - 3:30 P.M. (END OF SCHOOL DAY)
Cassie is grabbing her backpack from her locker. She shuts it and starts walking towards the door. She exits the school and stops to look at the flyers taped onto the schoolās brick wall. Flyer examples: math club, Trevorās pool party, basketball sign up sheet. Cassie shifts from the wall to Cassie. She stops looking at the wall and begins to walk home.
