Another awesome weekend of racing in the mountains! Sunday's Loon Mountain Race in Lincoln, NH was epic - 3,125 feet of climbing, with an average slope of 14% and a max slope of 48%! Crazy flash floods on Saturday made the course a muddy, slippery mess, but that's my kind of terrain 😁. I pushed hard for top 5 overall against some tough competition, in a field of over 450 racers. While sticking around afterwards for the award ceremony, I was shocked and surprised to discover I managed to have the fastest overall time on Upper Walking Boss, a kilometer long grassy black diamond ski slope right before the finish, that has an average grade exceeding 40 freaking percent! Somehow I was five seconds ahead of an Olympian! Not totally sure how that happened, but certainly psyched to hear it! Well, I hope you all have a great Independence Day tomorrow, wherever you may be, and enjoy some sunshine while you're at it!
