The captain's quarters is large, your footsteps are echoing as you pace back and forth. Shunsui is leaning back in his chair, hat tilting and creating a shadow over his face.

"Bunny," he calls out, causing you to stop pacing. You turn and face him, palms sweaty.

"Yes?" you reply back. He chuckles lightly and takes off his straw hat, setting it down on the desk. He pats his lap and you tilt your head.

"Come here," his voice echoes. You slowly walk over and gather yourself in his lap, curling up. Shunsui wraps an arm around your waist, holding you tight and close.

"What's wrong, my dear? You've been pacing all day," he expresses a hint of concern in his voice.

"I just wish that this whole thing was over," you comment, slumping your shoulders over.

"Why do you say that?" Shunsui asks, studying your face and trying to read you.

"I'm scared," you sigh out, admitting something that makes you feel so weak. Shunsui's eyes fills with interest and he squeezes your waist gently.

"Why?" he asks with a hoarse voice. You bite down on your bottom lip, trying to suppress your tears. Shunsui's expression softens and his mouth slightly gapes open.

A tear slides down from your cheek and he raises his other hand, cupping your cheek. With his thumb, he slides it across your cheek, wiping away your tear.

Your chest burns as you start to fall apart in his arms. You can't handle it anymore, so you bury your head into his chest.

"Because...what if we don't win? What if everything we worked so hard for is just gone?" you sob gently into his chest. He shushes you with a gentle voice, rubbing your back.

Oh, how Shunsui wish he could take all your fears away. He holds you tightly, hoping that you can feel his love. You lift your head up, looking at Shunsui through teary eyes.

"Shhh, tell me how you feel, my little bunny," Shunsui whispers out, reaching and tucking your hair behind your ear with his rough fingertips.

Even though, they may be rough and calloused, they are the most comfort you've ever felt in your life. The comfort you've been longing for your entire life, only a comfort that Shunsui can offer you.

"I don't want to lose my friends or...you," you sniffle out, your voice trembling. Shunsui wears a slight frown as you nuzzle your cheek into his palm even more.

"Oh, bunny, you won't lose me. I promise," he reassures you, grabbing onto your hand and placing it onto your chest. His heart beats steadily against your palm and you nod your head.

Shunsui lowers his head and presses a soft kiss on your cheek. His beard rubs against your face and your scrunches up, a tiny giggle escaping your lips.

"Do you really mean it?" you ask, hands resting on his chest. Shunsui gazes into your eyes then gazes over the rest of your puffy face, a smile forming along his face.

"There is nothing anyone could do to ever make me not find my way back to you, bunny. Do you understand?" his words are tender and romantic. You lift your hand up, placing it on his jaw.

Your fingers run over his rough beard and then down to his exposed chest, feeling the thick hair. You crack a tiny smile and nod your head.

"Yes, I understand." Shunsui's eyes crinkle at the side and he bows his head down to yours, capturing your lips in a sweet kiss. Your lips stay intertwined for a few moments before the two of you pull away, sharing a gentle smile.

You resume laying your head back on his chest, closing your eyes and relaxing in his embrace. It's warm and comforting.

All wrapped up in Shunsui's arms, you are the most precious thing to him ever. He listens to your steady breathing slowly becoming a bit heavier as you start to drift off.

"Nothing, bunny. Nothing will ever stop me from getting back home to you. I promise to stay alive for you."
