I keep meaning to write. I have every intention. Then at the end of the day, I realize I didnāt write again. Normally I actually write my blog the day before but since WordPress had an update, I schedule the blog but it never posts. Happy Infusion Day!š¤
Iām also hopefully finally starting the rituxan this week my insurance is a mess btw I really wanted to start it before moving but it looks like Iām going to be doing the first one while moving and getting my second infusion after I move so Iāll probably have to spend the night at my grandmas house which means bringing my dogs into town couple hours of driving and then probably driving home while feeling like shit idk I guess weāll see how bad it is after the first infusion Iām really sensitive to medications like thisĀ

First (successful) Rituxan Infusion!
Today I restarted my Rituxan infusions! If you donāt recall, we tried this medication once before and I ended up having a super mild allergic reaction that I panicked into something bigger, so we stopped it like 20 minutes in.
This time, I was fine! We started with an IV ofĀ solu-medrolĀ beforehand, along with the usual Benadryl and Tylenol, and everything went pretty smoothly! Granted, they had to get IV tech in to stab me because my veins are big jerks, but they still did really well! Only took two tries! and they numb me here so it wasnāt even a big deal.
I got reaaaaaally tired for the majority of the infusion, so I napped a bit, but otherwise I had a nice time hanging out with Stina in the hospital.
Iām still pretty sleepy, but I read thatās common. A lot of people have really low energy for like a week after their infusion? Does anybody here have experience with Rituxan to back that up?
Otherwise, the only other sort of side effect Iām feeling is a little bit of muscle tension, but it doesnāt hurt or anything. Just feels funny. Feels like Iām flexing y calf.
Iām excited to see how this medicine works! Iāve heard great things!

Hereās a new one for me... I came home from the gym the other day (yes I work out to the best of my ability, Iāve found Iām in less pain when I work out than when I donāt) anyways... I was sitting down on the couch and when I went to get up my knee decided itād hyperextend back and lock up on me causing me to fall forward.. it didnāt hurt, I wasnāt swollen, it just hyperextended and locked.. wtf is wrong with my bodyš¤¦š»āāļøš¤¦š»āāļø
Round two: completed! Iām done for another 6 months, letās hope this is the one!!š¤š¼
I havenāt touched on my illness on here in a very looooong time but Iām a lil anxious to start my new medication, rituxan. Itās more aggressive than any other medication but thatās not whatās giving me anxiety. Like yes itās scary what it could do to you, like death is listed as a side effect, hello, but thatās not particularly worrisome for me. Iām more concerned with the fact that this will be my 9th medication for RA, and it will basically be my Hail Mary pass(sports!). If this doesnāt work then I have no idea where my treatment will go and that frustrates me. I see so many stories of people who have been on medication for 8 years+ and the longest Iāve been on medication was 2 years and it barely did anything for me. And if I do find a medication that helps a lot it will stop working after a few months š©.
Anywaysā¦ my current doctor seems to be willing to try many things; she even was the first doctor to say that maybe a lupus diagnosis isnāt as far fetched as other doctors made it seem. Other doctors were so quick to say āitās not lupus!ā even with a positive ANA and RNP antibodies. So maybe she will explore treating me for lupus if this doesnāt pan out the way we hope it will. IDK!
Iām trying to stay positive because Iāve heard this medication works well for others who have RA but it would be cool if yāall could send me love and light or prayers or any positive thoughts. Iād appreciate it, truly.
