The retcon news have pumped me full of inspiration (also wdym no more AJ and Rarity???) and I quickly cooked this up after not being able to draw for like two months (lost my tablet pencil somehow) This is the usual ''let's switch up their cutie marks'' stuff, but I was thinking more about their elements and possible backstories? Just throwing stuff out there, for example... Rarity I imagined to be a theater kid on Canterlot that did a play for a festivity but the fillies were super shy and nervous cuz wow all these adults seem super critical and Rarity, leader of the organization of the play, is seeing them perform all shaky and it's going terribly. The sonic rainboom would've given her a boost of magic to add some shine to the play, some special effects, if you will, that awed the adults and gave the fillies some confidence. I think Rarity would grow up to be disillusioned by the lack of creativity within Canterlot and would move to Ponyville to live out her theater kid dreams. Twilight would still be a gifted unicorn but instead of not making friends because she's cooped up reading books, she'd be outside tending to potted plants who she calls friends, she'd still be book smart but hyperfocused on botany, I do find it cute the idea that instead of a dragon she brought some kind of rare insect egg (yikes) in a vivarium but I'd probably stick with spike, love the lil guy. I suppose Celestia would still be impressed and, aside from making new friends, Twilight could be interested in going to Ponyville to see the Everfree forest crazy flora for herself. Applejack would stick to her family, I won't change that, but she'd be a country music kind of gal, the sort you go on camping trips with, still has your back, still works and helps out in the barn (this could be a part of her inner conflicts, as in, she wants to spread her wings a little but her responsibilities to her family tie her up, even if she doesn't see it that way) . She would totally be the type to crack jokes to make people at ease, kind of like an auntie vibe going too I guess. Not sure how to tie it with the sonic rainboom, maybe when she gets back to her family granny Smith gives AJ her father's old guitar or something. Pinkie Pie does the sonic rainboom, yup. It's super odd to think about, but in this alternative reality she would be in Fluttershy's flying class and, well, it goes pretty similar to Rainbow in canon anyway only difference is Pinkie's rainbow would be all pastel and cutesy, had to give her wings and get rid of Rainbow's to keep the 2 unicorns, 2 pegasus, 2 earth ponies thing. Fluttershy would be a weaver, an spiritual kind of pony. I didn't want to cut her canon ties with nature so in this case Fluttershy would also be good friends with Tree Hugger but also Zecora. I imagine that instead of falling in with the animals after being pushed off when she was tiny, she'd fall on the Everfree forest and get scared after the sonic rainbow because it makes the forest react in some creepy way only to find Rainbow (might have heard her scream), who would guide her and keep her calm right until they find Zecora's hut, where Fluttershy would become her protégé? Not sure, maybe Fluttershy spends all the afternoon helping her out, gives Zecora some of her feathers? Dunno. Rainbow I imagine to be a ranger, a protector, still laidback, still super bad reading books but she has that tough but very considerate archetype going on which, in a way, in canon she's kind of like that already but anyway, I guess the main difference would be the level of emotional intelligence. I really struggled thinking about whether I let her keep her wings or not, but suffice to say, this Rainbow will be the fastest earth pony on earth, not a flyer and therefore, not a wonderbolt. She could be a guard, totally, probably run into AJ, Fluttershy and Twilight on the forest (I realize they are all kind of nearby). Uhh thx for reading by ramblings, here's my Vgen
