Deep Rock Galactic is a game that ages like fine wine, especially compared to similar games. If you play it with other people/friends then it's an incredible teamwork oriented survival experience. If you play it solo then it's a straight up horror game. It can be as hard or easy as you want and you can customize so much of your playstyle. And it's all free. The season passes are not only NOT paid but you can just go back and continue doing ones that you missed. Every weapon is unlockable by playing, most of the cosmetics (outside of a few reasonably priced DLC packs) are found in missions, and it offers such a wide spread of content that you feel like you're never going to run out.
And it's fun. You want to play it because playing DRG is great. Even if there is nothing to earn you still want to do it because it feels right shooting alien bugs as a dwarf serving a hyper-capitalist corporation. It's always there when you need a fix and that fix hits every time. It's genuinely one of the best multiplayer games out there and it makes other big-budget, season pass stuffed, mass-appeal, FOMO slop shit look like utter and absolute turds. Rock and fucking stone.
HIS ASS IS NOT HACKING!!!

Rival Tech, Invasive "Species" (May 2024)
deep rock galactic, lethal company, helldivers 2... i don't know what it reflects about our society that our most popular co-op games are all about being sent off by an evil and uncaring authority to get mulched but it's certainly not good
when i said “return to my roots” in the last post this is what i meant
before i discovered pressure, my main thing was turning deep rock galactic chat logs into comics, which was actually what got me into making comics in the first place
im not a fan of how a lot of popular media portrays people who play video games, either they're hardcore gamers in some world where beating the game is like the main goal of the story, or if it takes place in a normal world, they're all portrayed as obnoxious streamers or overly competitive man-children. granted, we have no shortage of those irl, but it's rare to find a piece of media where the "gamers" are just. casuals. regular people who have had a long day at school or work and just want to unwind for a bit.
it's gonna sound weird, but chat logs are kinda sacred to me. they're little snippets of interactions between people who will probably never meet in real life, sharing a fun moment together through a medium that people can use if they're too shy to use voice chat or dont even have a mic. the typos and random typing quirks just add to the human-ness factor of it all
idk man i just love them. i know how toxic a lot of games can get, but there are other games that can truly bring out the best in people. in a day and age where we all long for connection, it's something i've really come to appreciate
um so yeah thanks for coming to my ted talk
