- He has that poetic elegance that follows him like a shadow. He is beautiful, like a Dead Poets Society character, or like Dorian Gray.

- Shy boy at first. Let's not lie, Sirius takes so much space that our Regulus has to be the quiet, introverted one.

- You probably would have to make the first step.

- Lonely boy. Not because he doesn't like people, but because like every child who had abusive parents, he's just so anxious, scared of taking too much space. And just like his brother, he keeps his emotions to himself, and stays alone when he has a problem.

- Stolen glances and smiles across the classroom at first.

- He falls for you not because you are so beautiful, but because you are smart and insightful.

- He takes you on dates under the stars, to the library, sharing about his favourite poems or novels.

- When he doesn't dare to share about his feelings, he talks to you in French.

- "Tu sais que tu es jolie comme un cœur?"

- At some point, when he refuses to give you the translation, you ask Sirius, who is tempted to translate bullshit to you just to mess with his little brother. He doesn't, though. Because he knows how smitten he is with you.

- A.proper.gentleman

- Offers you his arm, kisses your hand, gives you his jacket if you are cold, opens doors

- Writes you beautiful letters with perfume on it

- Is the perfect dance partner

- You admire the way he speaks and writes so elegantly

- He plays the violin and piano, by education obligation. But when he notices how much you love it, he slowly grows to like it himself.

- He introduces you to his favourite cousin, Andromeda

- Shy kisses, passionate kisses, soft kisses

- So many kisses

- When Sirius leaves the family house/gets kicked out, things become heated.

- He keeps repeating how much he hates him for abandoning him. Deep down, you know that he still loves his brother

- Depressive episodes of feeling like he's not enough

- Tears and comforting hugs in the dormitories

- He tries desperately to fix things between his parents (understand by that Walburga), rather than step out for his beliefs

- A lot of pressure

- You give him shoulder massages and run your fingers through his black curls

- When he is given the Black family ring, after some time, he gives it to you because of the protection spells on it. He just wants to keep you safe.

- His patronus is originally Padfoot. After a while, it shifts into the same as yours, because no one makes him more happy than you

- He avoids the matter of the mark. But in the summer of his 16th birthday, when he suddenly stops answering your letters, you have a bad feeling

- That reveals to be true when you go back to Hogwarts

- You encourage him, again and again, to talk to his brother

- In the end, i like to believe that he proposed, and fought for his beliefs because he wanted to build a safe world for you and his future family

You loved playing the piano, and all of your fondest memories had that musical instrument in there somewhere. It was the only constant in your life. Even without realizing, music had become something to rely on. You hoped the school had a piano somewhere, because the thought of spending a lot of months in a new place with no melody for company was a thought you didn't want to have.

But all in all, Hogwarts didn't turn out to be so bad. You found some really cool friends. The marauders accepted you with open arms and even though they were in the second year, they always found ways of talking with you. The magic part was pretty awesome too.

The castle didn't have a piano, or not one you could find, but you didn't let that get you down. You were determined to make your new life happy.

- Fast forward four years later to you waking up feeling — hey, this is a good day. And it was a good day, because it’s when you met Regulus Black.

"Holy fuck, I'm so sorry," you collided with someone who resembled an angry duck. 

"Ugh, disgusting. Absolutely disgusting." Evan Rosier rubbed random parts of his robes while his dark-haired friend watched the scene with amusement.

"Aren't you a ray of sunshine," you replied with fake politeness.

"She keeps talking to me," Evan said to the boy, like you had just shown him your personal collection of worms.

You knew some Slytherins were huge fans of blood purity, so his pretense of superiority didn't surprise you, but it was still annoying.

"Be nice," the boy said, after throwing you an apologetic glance.

You glared at them both, and walked off. After three steps, you thought hey, fuck him and turned around.

"Rosier, for someone who doesn't like muggle borns, you sure stare at me a lot, you absolute toerag."  You yelled for the whole hallway to hear.

He blushed all shades of red while the boy beside him laughed openly. Rosier pushed away from him and rose his wand, but you were just as fast.

The scene went from funny to dark in just a matter of seconds as the wands pointed at each other.

The boy was about jump in when McGonagall came out of nowhere.

“ROSIER, I SAW THAT!” She yelled, and he lowered his wand with a wince. “COME WITH ME THIS INSTANCE!”

You were disappointed. Frankly, you wanted to see how far he’d go. You sighed and walked away from the mess, and Evan’s friend was by your side.

“I’m going to breakfast.” You said pointedly. He shrugged.

“So am I,” he replied casually. You didn’t know why but you were curious about him. He was obviously nicer than Rosier but why did he hang out with him at all?

“Can I ask you something?” You asked slowly.

“If you have to.”

“Why do all of you hate us? The muggle-borns, I mean.” You tried to sound casual too, but he instantly looked like you accused him of murder.

“I don’t hate anyone based on their blood status.” He said through gritted teeth, keeping his eyes forwards.

“Your company says otherwise.”

“They’re stupid.”

“So are you if you keep hanging out with them.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

You folded your hands, halting in front of the Great Hall. He looked as if he didn't want to face you, but he stopped too.

“You’re just another jerk who excuses shitty behavior from your friends because you think you don’t have a choice,” you said coldly, and left him there.

Regulus breathed in, somehow feeling more shittier than usual.

From then on, he always kept an eye on you. He couldn't help it, you suddenly seemed to be everywhere — the common room, his classes, even his dreams.

Soon, he started looking for you, the girl with the bold heart and that fierce glare. After he’s done playing Quidditch matches, even if his team wins or loses, his eyes always snapped to yours first, just to feel a bit more happy.

He asked Sirius about you, and while he tried to make it sound casual, Sirius laughed so loud. But nevertheless, he did say everything he knew about Y/N, and with each sentence, Sirius noted how his brother’s eyes went a bit wider, a bit more falling in adoration.

Time has come for Regulus to stop with all the creepy stares and actually talk to you. He had an excuse ready, so he came to your table, and tapped on our shoulders.

“Awe, it’s my brother here to see me!” Sirius said, but Regulus rolled his eyes.

You looked up curiously and almost spat out the pumpkin juice you were drinking.

“Do I look that good today?” He asked with an eyebrow raised.

“You’re Regulus? Sirius’s brother?” You asked in disbelief.

“You didn't know that?”

“How would I know who you are?”

“Well, tada.” He did a small bow, and James frowned. When was the last time any of them had seen Regulus so at ease before? Playful and fun, and not at all looking like he carried burdens older than him?

“Any specific reason why you came here?” Sirius asked with an innocent smile.

“Yes, Y/N, can you come with me for a second?” Regulus asked, hesitating.

“Okay,” you got up cautiously and followed him out of the Great Hall, wondering if you should enquire about where you were going, but he didn't look like he was going to answer anyway.

He led you to a corridor nearby, then raised his hands to make you stop. He then walked further, then turned back to you. He paced through the hallway three times.

“Am I witnessing your existential crisis?” You asked, but then gasped as a door appeared in the wall.

“The room of requirement,” he said, smiling proudly. He opened the door and ushered you in.

You had heard of the famous myth from Sirius, about how the room which appeared when you needed it the most with a lot full of stuff which you supposedly needed. 

You didn't know why Regulus suddenly needed a small library, but your almost heart stopped beating when you saw what was in the middle of the room.

“OH MY GOD, I MISSED YOU!” You yelled and basically threw yourself at the piano, touching it as if you were sure it would fade away.

Regulus laughed, and your eyes found his again.

“Want to explain what’s going on?” you asked, sitting down and pressing a key. The sound echoed off the room, and your resulting smile transfixed Regulus on the spot before he could slowly come up with an explanation.

“I wanted to say sorry about Evan.” He sat beside you. You didn't show any objection so he pressed a key too, testing his memory.

“How did you know I played the piano?”

“Sirius.”

“Of course,” you laughed, the sound mixing well with the melody of the instrument. 

He was playing something soft, something so serene you wanted to rest your head on his shoulder and sleep. Something familiar.

“Where's my Mind by Pixies.” You whispered under your breath, wondering how the hell he knew your favorite muggle song.

“Sirius told me a lot,” he answered the question behind your eyes, and you felt your heart hammering against your chest. Was that normal?

“Thank you,” you found yourself saying. He shook his head as if he didn't want your apology. 

He kept playing, and you kept staring. His dark messy hair, warm eyes, even the growing blush on his cheek — you observed it all.

“I still don't get one thing,” you continued softly. “The Room of Requirement. What does that have anything to do with me?”
