π bsf!reader's first time visiting Michael in California | so fluffy omg, nothing explicit but the π₯ point is mildly suggestive
ππYou had known him since childhood, and been good friends, but by the time he and his family had moved to Havenhurst things had started feeling moreβ¦. Urgent, between the two of you. You had to be sure to be home when you knew he was going to call you. You counted the days between letters just to be sure you could read it as soon as it was delivered, and that you had the time to write him a response immediately afterward. Something in his manner communicated this same need: He'd sound anxious if it took you more than two rings to pick up the phone. His letters were often two or three pages, sometimes both back and front. What really confirmed how deep his feelings ran for you was when he called you before your next planned talk, stammering and stuttering as he finally asked if you would come stay with his family for a few weeks. You were shocked, but agreed immediately. Job and school be damned, you knew you were going to find a way to make it work out.
ππ‘It took longer than either one of you would have liked for the trip to be planned out and confirmed, but between his schedule and yours, you were finally able to find a matching gap where the trip would perfectly fit. You had half expected him to meet you at the airport, but you knew deep down that just wasn't possible for him right now. A chauffer came and collected you however, and took you directly to the Havenhurst estate. Michael's descriptions of it had been shamefully lacking - the "house" and yard together felt at least a hundred times larger than the cramped dorm room you had. How he had stayed the same sweet, gentle, selfless boy you'd known in Gary despite these changes, you had no idea.
ππ«ΆHe was already standing in the driveway as the limo pulled up to the front entrance; You hardly waited for the car to stop before you flung the door open to go hug him. Even though you had kept in touch, and you had of course seen when he released anything new, nothing prepared you for how tall he actually was now. Or the lithe muscles he had developed; feeling his biceps flex against your sides as he held you as tightly to his chest as he could. You were both laughing as he fought to keep you both from falling over. As some of his family came out to see you, there were a few giggles and chuckles you could hear from them before he finally let go of you to greet them.
ππͺAs the days go on, you both find yourselves spending all your time together. Even when you're not planning on it, you still end up finding yourselves drawn to each other. He keeps finding song demos he wants to show you, and you always end up having long conversations with him about them- even when he promises it'll just be quick. You'll start baking something just for fun and he inevitably drifts into the kitchen to see what you're fixing β Hovering over the bowls when you aren't mixing things together, and patiently waiting for the spoon so he can eat the remaining batter off. You knew you were starting to develop deeper feelings for him. Really, you had been working through those feelings for the past few years now, especially with his more romantic songs he had released, but actually getting to be with him like this brought it all to the forefront of your mind. It's another week before he confesses that he's been feeling the exact same way about you.
ππ₯He's so shy with you, even though you know he likes it when you flirt with him. You often have to take the initiative, just because he's so unsure of how to handle his own feelings. Kissing and a little petting (you couldn't really call it heavy) were about all he would allow himself- save for the first night he tried champagne. That night, he was relaxed enough on the bubbly that you actually made it as far as straddling his lap, grinding against him as you made out, before he tapped out for the night (nearly falling asleep on you twice with no warning). The next morning he claimed to have very little memory of what had happened, but you could tell he was fibbing based on how he got just that little bit more direct with you: resting his hand on your shoulder or hip when he came up behind you, making bolder hints about wanting you to kiss him, other little things that meant so much more to you than anyone could ever realize.
πβοΈThe final few days of your trip were bittersweet β you had loved getting to spend so much time with him, but you both knew that it would probably be several months, if not longer, before you two could actually see each other again. Sure you had the phone calls and letters, but that was chump change compared to actually getting to hold him. You'd gotten used to falling to sleep in the crook of his arm as you held onto his chest. How you were going to fall asleep alone, in your tiny, cold little dorm room, without his warmth around you, was a complete mystery. You didn't have to talk to him about it, but everything he did confessed that he felt the same. He practically wouldn't let you out of his sight, continuously trying to find ways to keep physical contact with you for as long as possible. He actually rode with you to the airport, your hands intertwined the whole way there as you cuddled in the limo's backseat. He couldn't get out of the car with you (something that bothered both of you), but he makes it up to you by initiating a kiss himself β the first time he had done so the whole time you had been there. The whole plane trip back home, you couldn't stop thinking about when you could meet him again.
