a) people being scared of trying or asking questions or engaging in conversation or because they are afraid of accidentally saying the “wrong thing” = being a bad irredeemable person

b) people thinking that as long as they say the correct thing they are automatically inherently good and can do no harm and could never unintentionally contribute to oppression and if you challenge them on something they’ve said you must be one of the bad guys TM because a good person TM would never question another good person TM

And I think this a huge fucking problem

It's crazy to think we still haven't gotten another show like Xena since we've been promised with progression. It just feels like corporate marketing blurbs even shows like Agatha all along still doesn't compare to Xena warrior princess for one it was too goddamn short.

I can’t even explain how progressive Xena is as a show.

It’s just you watch it and you think there’s nothing like that today, let alone back then. I mean yeah, there’s feminist television but … I don’t know. I don’t know how to put it. It just exists in a realm of its own in terms of just how feminist and how queer and how validating it is. It makes you feel incredible every time you watch it.

Maybe I am putting it on a pedestal but I’ve honestly never come across anything as groundbreaking as it.

There’s a level of progressiveness to it that can’t be reached or achieved in anything else that I’ve seen.

And when you think about the fact that it’s male-dominant creatively… that floors you even more.

The likes of Steven L. Sears, R.J. Stewart and Rob Tapert constantly attesting that it is feminist and queer and that that’s the point because of how the story is told from the perspective of the gay sidekick/bard.

I just. I don’t know. I can’t explain it at all. It’s just some sort of timeless magic. Lightning captured in a bottle.

It’s a 90’s show and it still holds up incredibly well today. Even more so when you think about the fact that people refer to it as the blueprint and greenlight of any legitimate WLW/queer content in TV art/entertainment despite the fact that it was never explicitly confirmed as that in the show itself but only through the fandom and through the creators/cast/crew who accepted and embraced it 100% for how it was read and interpreted.

It is one of those pieces of TV media where you could read into it anything that you wanted and it was valid.

They never said you were wrong or stupid or crazy for it and for the most part they could see it too and agreed.

It is a whole other fucking level of progressiveness that we don’t have now which makes it still really stand out among the masses of female-led and even canon queer TV shows and movies. It’s a beginning and end in itself.

I’m getting a bit tired of all the hate that swifites get on this website under the disguise of progressiveness. I totally understand the criticism of Taylor Swift herself – I’m always down for some good criticism of billionaires. And I’m definitely not saying that swifities are in any way oppressed or a minority for liking Taylor Swift. But there’s a lot of posts like “ugh those basic cishet white people who don’t understand real music and only listen to Taylor’s trashy songs”. And this is mostly young girls who already get a lot of hate from old men who haven’t grown out of their toxic masculinity and think that everything girly is pathetic and that fan girls are crazy cultists.

I’m just so confused as to how “let people enjoy what they enjoy even if it’s cringy” transformed into “those stupid swifities who don’t listen real music”
