Tangeld Hearts Series: W4/D2 - Leon Kennedy + Love Triangle
Resident Evil Master List WC 2435
Leon always comes and finds you after missions. No matter what, this time its just easier since youâre stuck in a safe house. The safe house is quiet in a certain way that almost always follows after surviving something that you most likely wouldnât have if Leon hadnât been there.Â
You can hear the faintest sound of the generating giving power to the safe house, the only light is a soft dimness of a singular lap that sits on a side table in the corner, there is also the low calming sound of an old appliance running, and what could possibly be water dripping from the old pipes.
You stink of blood, and sweat having not gotten out of your mission clothes just yet, you havenât had the energy or the want to change out of them yet even though there is another set of clothes in the go bag sitting by the safe house door.Â
For now you sit on the edge of the old worn down couch, internally growing through the entire mission. Running through the entire thing, mentally placing things where they have to be because in a few hours youâll be doing a mission report. The only other sound is the heavy boots that are approaching you.Â
The sound of Leon boots stop when he spots you on the couch, to him you donât look hurt, you arenât bleeding and he knows that the blood that stains your clothes isnât your own. He had made sure about a dozen times during the mission, and then another dozen on your way to the safe house.Â
You just look worn down, and exhausted to him. Nothing he hasnât seen before but he canât help but admire you for a few moments before letting his shoulders drop ever so slightly, and allowing for the tension to roll off his frame in what youâd only call a very visible wave of release. âI wondered where you went off to.â Leon murmurs as he finally stands tall in front of you.Â
You hum, and give the man a soft, but over all tired smile âDoes that mean you were lookinâ for me?â You ask him, Leon just huffs and shakes his head at you, âAlways.â Is the only response you get from the man. Leon is slow with his movements as he comes closer than usual. His movements remind you of a zookeeper trying to make sure not to startle an animal.Â
âYou did a disappearing act when we got here, sweetheart.â Leon says, the nickname is a reminder of sorts that you arenât on the field anymore. Leon seems to only ever allow the honorific to come out in the safety of a safe house. You hum once more, looking up at him. âI just really needed a fuckinâ minute.â He seems to understand just giving you a simple nod in return.Â
Leon takes the moment to bend down, his knees hitting the safe house floor and popping as he finally manages to sit all the way down. His hands rest carefully and res[ectfully on your knees. His touch is light, but filled with a care that only comes from the sort of understanding of seeing some horrible shit and making it out alive together.Â
There is silence that falls over the two of you before Leon is filling the air once more with the richness of his voice. âYou really did a number on me today, scared the ever living shit out of me.â Leon admits.Â
You take a chance to really look at Leon. Leon carries everything with him, and it shows in his features. The way he looks more emotionally strained like heâs trying to hold back from breaking apart. Then there are the dark circles that sit under his eyes telling you about the immense amount of trauma that heâs endured all for saving someone.Â
There isnât anything in his eyes that makes you feel like heâs accusing you, or reprimanding you. Itâs just a bare honesty that you seem to share with Leon. âI know that youâll always come.â You responded honestly. You can visibly see the change in Leon. The way his shoulders rise up to his ears, the way his jaw sets and tightens ever so faintly.Â
Finally he looks back up at you. âThatâs not a fail safe plan, sweetheart.â His voice is rough and thick with something, but you canât pinpoint it. âYeah but it worked did it not?â You question him. Leon just shakes his head, not there is any real anger and frustration behind it at all.Â
Once again itâs just an emotion that you canât seem to pinpoint, the feeling is there rooting its way in between you both. Leon slides one of his hands up from your knee to find one of your hands. His overall warmth floods you, the rough callused fingers grazing against your own softer, and smaller hand.Â
His touch is grounding, and steady. He takes your wrist in his hand, gently twisting your wrist until he finds the face of your watch. Heâs careful to unlatch the buckle and grab the watch, placing it right next to you on the couch. Leon inspects your old scars, the ones that have left uneven bumps along your skin.Â
âNobody is expecting you to be invincible, sweetheart.â Leon says softly. You reach down, grabbing Leonâs other hand lacing your fingers together and giving him a good squeeze. âI know that Leon.â You whisper back to him. The exhale that Leon lets out tells you that heâs most definitely relieved to hear that answer.Â
The same hand that holds your wrist gently gets twisted back around, his thumb falling softly over your knuckles. You watch as Leon swallows before speaking, âYou know itâs a shame, but I donât say it enough to you.â He murmurs, without dropping his piercing blue eyes from our own. âYou matter, to me sweetheart.â You feel your heart quicken in your chest, and your lungs burn. You give his hand another squeeze, and then regain some sort of control over your body.Â
âJust so you know, Leon, you matter to me too.â You admit with a smile on your face. He returns the smile, the crows feet around his eyes deepening. Itâs a soft smile, one that tells you everything you need to know about this man kneeling in front of you. The realness is there too, and before you know it Leon is leaning forward slowly.Â
His forehead resting against your own only for a few moments.Â
The moment isnât one that feels like heâs claiming you as his own, rather that there is an undeniable closeness that tethers the two of you together.Â
Itâs hours later when you find yourself rummaging through the old cabinets of the kitchen. When you turn around there is Ada leaning against the counter. Her slender arms crossed over her chest. Her breath is steady, and her eyes are piercing in a way that doesnât make you feel small but instead makes you feel seen.Â
You realize quickly that she must have been leaning against the counter longer than you were aware. âI can tell that youâre favoring your left side, trouble.â Ada says calmly, before pushing off the counter. You take a second looking down at your legs. Still in your mission clothes. âAm I? I didnât notice.â You mumble out truthfully.Â
Ada steps closer, her boots clicking against the tile floor quietly. She hums, "Of course you didnât notice trouble, you tend to ignore your own injuries.â She says. Ada's fingers find and settle around your waist carefully. Then sheâs guiding you to turn slowly. For a woman who has been on both sides, and doesnât take shit her touch is very gentle and grounding.Â
The same way a few hours ago Leon's touch had been grounding. While Leonâs touch was grounding and steady. Adaâs touch is woven with precision not that itâs all that surprising. âTrouble you like to hide your pain.â She murmurs as if talking any louder will bring something down upon the both of you.Â
âAnd you do it so well too.â Ada adds. You give Ada a quiet hum, âItâs just a survival skill Iâve learned.â You murmur under your breath. You can feel Ada eyes flick and graze over your body finally landing on your eyes. Her stare says a lot, âThatâs not how it should beâ or âYou arenât meant for a world that is fucking broken.â Itâs honestly hard to understand what her looks mean sometimes.Â
âIt may be a survival skill, but that doesn't make it any less dangerous.â Ada says pointedly. Adaâs hands are still resting comfortably on your waist. Giving you a steadiness to find your balance as you continue to try and shift to get comfortable. You donât dare pull away, and of course Ada notices. Because Ada will always notice.Â
There is a moment of silence that follows as you settle your lower back against the counter top, and Ada at you to make sure youâre finally comfortable. Ada is the first one to break the silence. âIâve noticed that you trust him.â Ada says as if trying to make sure the âheâ she is referring to doesn't hear her.Â
You think for a minute, your lips pursed out into an almost pout and then you give her a nod. âBut I also trust you.â You add, your words make Ada stop in her tracks. For a singular moment you watch as her composure that always seems to be shatter free starts to crack at just the edges. Softening for you and you alone.Â
What truly gives Ada away is how her fingers curl ever so slightly around your side. The press of her fingers into the side of your stomach isnât anything but grounding. âYou really shouldn't have trouble.â She says but her voice is everything but convincing. âThatâs too bad because I do.âÂ
You watch her eyes, and how well she seems to study you. Studying your face like sheâs searching for the lies that lay just underneath the facade. Except there are no lies, because you trust her just as much as you trust Leon. When Ada doesnât find the lies or the hesitation she lets herself take a deep breath.
She lets go of your waist quickly and lets her hands brushing ever so lightly over your arms. The touch is personal, not an ounce of professionalism behind it. Not even a clinical distance can stop the way her touch causes a wave of goosebumps to go over your skin. âTrouble, you make it so fuckinâ difficult.â Ada whispers, âSo difficult to what Ada?â You ask as you feel your heart to stutter and jump in your chest.Â
Ada traces the edge of your shift with her thumb, the softness of her skin against the top exposed part of your arm has you reeling and then sheâs gone, letting go but not stepping away from you completely. âJust difficult, trouble.â Thatâs all you get from Ada, leaving you utterly confused.Â
Youâve returned to your spot on the couch, this time youâre sporting loosing, and cleaner clothes. A pair of loose jogging pants, and an oversized t-shirt with a graphic that has half come off from the amount of times itâs gone through the washer and dryer back home.Â
You have your feet tucked underneath your ass, a book that you had shoved in your go bag in your lap. Youâre so entranced by the book that you donât realize that both of them have returned to the room until you feel the couch dip on one side of you and then feel the couch dip on the other side.Â
When you look to your right there is Ada. Her legs crossed. Her gear is gone and the dress she was wearing earlier is now replaced with something else. To your left is Leon. He sports a new shirt, and a pair of loose grey sweatpants, his gear long forgotten about on the kitchen counter top.Â
They donât crowd you, but you can still feel their presence. You take a moment finding your forgotten bookmark and marking your page for later. Closing and setting the book aside, you look between them. You seem to notice the way the room is quiet but not uncomfortable.Â
Neither seems to want to speak first, so instead you feel the softness of Leonâs hand brushing ever so lightly against yours, the touch is tentative like heâs testing the water, making sure not to leave big ripples behind. Adaâs touch is different, instead her touch leaves nothing to doubt. Her hand bracing on your back lightly.Â
Just because neither wants to speak first sure as hell doesnât mean that either one of them will be dropping their touch on you any time soon. You let go of a heavy breath. âYouâre both so bad at hiding.â You say with a shake of your head.Â
Leon huffs next to you on the couch, âI was never hiding, sweetheart.â You can see Ada smirk from the corner of your eye, âHe really wasnât, heâs never been hiding or lying.â Ada says. Your laugh starts off quiet, and then itâs bouncing off the safe house walls, filling the space with warmth.Â
The space feels warmer than before, more lived in then a safe house should probably ever feel like. You smile looking over at Leon to reach out and grab his hand. You look over at Ada, and grab her hand with your other hand. Stuck in the middle of them you hold both of them in your hands.Â
They donât let go, and thereâs no hestiance or resistance. Leon returns to brushing his tumb over the tops of your knuckles, and you feel the slight press of Adaâs fingers dig into your back in a reassuring way. You let your body flow, leaning into Leon slightly, he makes sure to steady you. You rest your head against Adaâs shoulder, her presence stays close to you without a single questions about what this now makes the three of you.Â
Regardless for the first time you feel safe, secure and balanced perfectly between Ada and Leon. You sit comfortably like that for a while, before you feel the softness of Leonâs lips press a soft kiss to the top of your temple, Ada gives you a possessive squeeze around your waist. You arenât being asked to choose either one of them, because neither one of them will let you go.Â
