the cute gay reveal is his cousin resting in his quarters and his fiancé sneaks in and covers his eyes, and says "guess who?" and the nephew jokes "Sulu?" and his fiancé says "you wish" and it's so cute

The central tube to the warp core was a Sono Tube - a form for concrete columns.

The Warp Core was called "Space Engine"

The ceiling is made of stretched muslin cloth

The core extended into the stage pit to give three levels to Engineering (just like TMP, TNG and VOY)
