Coffee ☕♥️ but make it #zerowaste! We have slowly evolved our coffee routine from plunger (also #wastefree) to this excellent set up with all #secondhand appliances. We can now get our beans #packagefree from @noms_ire or @thedublinfoodcoop and grind them ourselves as we need them (I don't know if I can taste the difference but I love the process 🤣) our espresso machine takes ground beans and coffee and doesn't have any pods or filters so the only end product is a little nugget of compostable used beans! Tough week? ✨self care✨ time! Tonight I'm having a glass of wine, chilling with my hair mask and face mask on, and listening to my audiobook. This hair mask is a cool #packagefree one from @lush, and the facemask is a DIY oatmeal one! My go-to face mas recipe: 🌾 Oats buzzed to flour in a food processor 🥛 Plain organic yogurt 🍯 Local honey (optional) 🌼 Chamomile tea (optional) I mix these into a thick paste, smear on, and leave for 10-15 minutes. This recipe is gently exfoliating, great for dry sensitive skin, calming and moisturising. A gorgeous #prechristmas haul from @noms_ire 🎄 I have many grand plans for making gifts and goodies over the next few weeks so I needed to stock up! I have to say, this haul was expensive. Lots of people talk about how #zerowasteliving can be unaffordable and in some cases I totally agree that there is a cost barrier to being "very zero waste". Noms is a great shop, it offers local and #packagefree goodies, but it definitely costs more than Tesco. I do think that if you can afford it you should try to shop as ethical and sustainability as possible, but if this is not what your shopping looks like that is also 100% fine. Everyone's journey is different. Everyone's life is different. Everyone's time and financial capacity is different. Your steps are still valid and everything that you can do is awesome. I've never been so excited to run out of surface cleaner! This is @iron.and.velvet - a #plasticfree cleaning product company. Their concentrated products come in little dissolvable pods which get mixed with water in a bottle you already own to make a variety of products! I bought mine from @thekind.co in #Dublin and they worked out at €3 per bottle of finished product. I got #antibacterial kitchen and bathroom surface cleaner and a glass and mirror cleaner. Check out my story or my product review highlights to see how the dissolving process works! For 90% of my cleaning I use diluted white vinegar, simple soap, and bicarbonate of soda but occasionally I like to try other products. The vinegar also still comes in plastic unless you make it yourself. The main vinegar I make is #kombucha vinegar, which will stain whites over time so that doesn't work on everything. So... I started researching #packagefree options and found @iron.and.velvet and @weareneat. I went with the first one because it has paper packaging rather than glass and worked out a bit cheaper, but I plan to try neat too. 😊 Are there any other UK or Irish cleaning products I should try?? Greengrocer haul! We try to buy as much Irish 🇮🇪 produce as possible, but in winter that means there is very little available. ❄️ Luckily our greengrocer knows us really well, so they'll help us find the fruit and veg that comes from as close by as possible. 🌍 They also give us whatever fruit and veg is going off rather than throwing it away! We use the fruit for juice and the veg for soups and stews. 😁 Also, loads of the produce is #packagefree and #plasticfree so it's #lowwaste 🗑️ and better for the planet.
