Some tips for writing a character with actual Narcissistic Personality Disorder (these are based off my experience so it doesn't apply to everyone)
-insecurity is a huge thing in NPD, so being competitive in things they enjoy even if the thing itself isn't directly competitive (like drawing or acting) and not meeting their own expectations of being the best (even if they're praised by others) can make them angry, defensive or depressed
-a lot of people with NPD mask, staying humble even while having a big ego just to keep a good reputation (though some like having a negative reputation, being seen as evil or a villian, but it doesn't apply to all) so they'll pretend to be nice even if they view others as below them just to seem nice or to feel like a good person
-manipulation also tends to be pretty common, whether it's consciously or not, things like, guilt tripping when they don't get what they want, having a victim complex or lying about things for sympathy or to make themselves look better, sometimes it's on purpose, sometimes it's just an unconscious response that they don't even realize is actually manipulation
-god complex, savior complex, hero complex, sometimes they'll do something just to seem like a better person even if they don't actually care, like comforting someone even if they have no empathy or sympathy for the person or situation, to be the hero or savior to them and keep a good reputation of being a "nice person"
-an intense need for attention and needing to be seen how they want to be seen, like if a character thinks of themselves as cool, mysterious and intimidating, they'd get angry or annoyed if they're not viewed that way by others and will try to do more and act differently to be viewed in that way
-sometimes having very transactional relationships, keeping people around that they hate or dislike for whatever they can offer, like if another character is popular, they might hate them but they stick around to keep the popularity that comes with being around/friends with them

HRGGGGG IM NORMAL ABOUT THESE TWO I SWEARâ
The two have a sort of âsecret third optionâ to describe the relationship. Every interaction is from the basis of mutually assured destruction. Since both know the other is an absolute fraud when it comes to what they say they are. (Priest being Lightsent and having a connection with a âgodâ, and Autumn having lost a wing from a demon attacking and him fighting it off) Autumn absolutely fucking hates Priest for how heâs ruined so many lives.
However.
Both of them lied their asses off to climb and pull themselves into a higher class of living. Both have also been treated like shit by most of their race in the lives they had before they came up with the lies. Autumn gets the want to get revenge on their whole race for how they treated you. Difference is? Autumn doesnât think he deserves it, while Priest very much thinks he does.
Autumn learned a LOT about Priest (mans a fucking YAPPER about himself) because he was Priests personal guard whenever Priest was weakened from using magic. Which put him in the position to kill priest several, SEVERAL times. An opportunity he never took up. Though he did fantasize and came extremely close to it after Flame was tortured by Flint.
Autumn saw a side of Priest no one else did: The vulnerable side of Priest. The HONEST side of Priest. Because who would believe Autumn? And even if they did believe Autumn, Priest made sure to tighten the metaphorical leash he had on Autumn (reminded Autumn of their M.A.D.) to remind Autumn to never EVER let any info on him slip out.
Autumn meanwhile was never honest. Till he was. Till he found himself actually missing the Understanding of how he was treated by society. The Understanding of what it was like to always be living a life of lies. To never be able to be honest or else your life will fall apart.
âŚ.Funny. He found that understanding with Spice years down the line in SASS. Doesnât get that in REVO, he just gets further trapped in a web of his own weaving.
As for why i decicded to draw him as a knight?
Autumn just really gives off knight vibes in REVO. Maybe itâs the fact that he had the sheer will to gouge a chunk of his back out in Early Years. I dont know. He just really gives off âwill and strength of a Knightâ heâs got the attitude of one. âWill sacrifice everything for the safety of his familyâ type shit is Knight mentality.
And ifdk how to describe the dynamic between Priest and Autumn. (Without going on a six paragraph essay rant at least) Villian and his blackmailed henchman??? Enemies to secret third option??? Corrupt King and his fool of a knight??? These fuckers would never kiss. Hell no.
(Well, maybe under heavily specific circumstancesâŚ)
Priest does think Autumn is unattractive and ugly, and Autumn thinks touch from Priest is absolutely vile. But thereâs something ??? Something inexplicable that you canât describe but is there. Very Porcilavian of a relationship between them. Itâs definitely not a sexual relationship, or really a romantic relationship, i would say platonic, but platonic doesnât feel right to describe it either? Thereâs hate in the relationship and constant political âgames of chessâ, but at the end of the day thereâs ironically an aspect of trust in the other. A trust that if one were to destroy the other, theyâd get dragged down with you.
Legitimately cannot convey this shit, the words are simply not in our vocabulary if the words exist at all. Send help (genuinely, what do they come across as)
Priest has NPD, and that results in an interesting view towards Autumn. Autumn isnât his equal, but very close to being his equal (due to them living very similar upbringings in the sense that they were treated like shit for things they couldnât control.) And because of that, Priest genuinely hates the fact that Autumn doesnât think highly of himself. Because then by proxy, that means Priest isnât viewed highly. So he makes comments that raise Autumns self confidence in backhanded ways. Tends to use WE statements (associating Autumn with him) and âpeople like usâ statements when monologuing to Autumn about why he deserves everything and the respect and adoration of everyone. Tries to get Autumn to be selfish and do something to make himself satisfied for once.
He does regularly violate Autumns bodily autonomy though. Do NOT take their whatever the heck this is as a Good Relationship at all.
If I had to sum up Autumns feelings towards Priest in one song, itâd be Brutus.
