Lonny feels discomfort with seeing her hips in the mirror, wearing bras, and she has started getting cat called recently. All of this is relieved by wearing her older brother’s clothes.
Lonny is experiencing issues of dysmorphia, sensory sensitivity, and misogyny respectively. Her solution alleviates those discomforts without any need for changes in the behavior of others. Recognizing them in this way also gives her other tools as well- she might get rid of magazines that only ever show tiny waisted models, have pasties and snug tank tops on hand if she wants to wear clothes that she would feel uncomfortable wearing braless, and practice confrontational strategies that have been shown to lessen the distress of street harassment.
