#aliagender

A symbol for othergender men/boys or for those who feel like their manhood/boyhood is "other." In three colors of course!

I mostly know what the gender is but do not know what it's called or how and where to find out what it's called.

I'd like a word for it that's more specific than what I've currently got.

I know I'm non-binary and I know that I have a gender.

It's not masculine or feminine and not neutral. It's just kind of there. If man and woman were ketchup and mayo this would be mustard.

Sorry for the weird metaphor, what I mean is its not nothing and its not really neutral its just its own thing.

Someones suggested maverique but something about that one doesn't seem quite right. Mostly that I don't feel super strongly about my gender and the definition kind of implies that? Maybe im reading it wrong

Xenogender's not right either. Ideas on what else it might be or where I can look for more words?

Hmm, yeah maverique is the first thing I think of in that unlike many other labels, it says you have a gender but that gender isnt connected to masculinity, femininity or neutrality. I dont think it implies it needs to be really strong, but I get what you mean because for the longest time when I thought I was cis, my description for myself was like, yeah sure I mean like I could be [insert gender] but the intensity is like, around 60% maybe? do people usually feel more strongly about it?

Anyway I do know other gender but disconnected from masc/fem/neu exist so let me go find a few for you. Definition wise, maverique is defined as "an identity that is not the absence of gender, or an apathy towards gender, but a present feeling of gender. This feeling of gender is completely independent from male, female, neutral, or anything derived from any of them." Genderqueer, like non binary, can encompass this, but isnt specific. Other labels are:

Aporangender - nonbinary gender identity and umbrella term for "a gender separate from male, female, and anything in between while still having a very strong and specific gendered feeling"

Aliagender - As described by the person who coined it, Beck, aliagender is “A gender experience which is 'other', or stands apart from existing gender constructs.” As Zoë or Leo later described it, "we defined it then as a gender experience other from the traditional spectrum. I always meant for this to be a term for a specific positive gender that was not associated with the man/woman spectrum, but was a gender that existed and NOT genderless."

Aporine - a term for relating to having the qualities or attributes regarded as characteristic of aporagender, neutrois, maverique, or other abinary allogenders. It is the equivalent of masculine or feminine for genders that are entirely separate from masculinity, femininity, and anything in between (androgynous). Aporinity is similar to outherinity but includes neutrality.

Aingender - (shortened to AIN) is a umbrella term for all genders which are aporine in nature. It may be used as aingender, or simply used as "ain" to describe that "someone's gender is ain".

Abinary - Abinary (abbreviated AB), aphorian or apisgender refers to any gender that is completely unrelated to maleness, masculinity, femaleness, or femininity, and is nowhere in between those things, while not necessarily being genderless (although agender individuals may also identify as abinary). An abinary individual may feel a strong sense of gender, however that gender is completely unrelated to the binary genders.

Outherine - also spelled outhrine, is an umbrella term for gender qualities that are separate from masculinity, femininity, androgyny, and neutrality, "yet not exactly xenine".

Ilyagender - an outherine gender in which one has a tangible presence of gender. However, that gender is not man, woman, neutral, or agender in any way. It is not in between any of these genders, and it is not a combination or derivation of any of those genders.

There you go!! I think these are kind of the main ones. They're less known because the trans community has a tendency to always shuffle back to the binary and concepts of femininity and masculinity, but we have terms like transaporine and transoutherine to match terminology like transandrogynous.

Basically, Abinary means a gender that exists but isnt associated with the binary at all, so doesnt align with it. This includes Outherine, so an abinary identity that isnt neutral, and Aporine, an abinary identity that could be neutral (not necessarily though). Id say Maverique and Ilyagender are underneath the Outherine umbrella in that they specify that the gender is distinct from neutrality. As far as Ive seen, Aliagender and Aporagender are kind of synonyms and would fall more in line with being Aporine because the genders might align with neutrality.
