Last: "That's right! Frey never got Bragi to write an epic poem about me! The only thing he ever gave me was a stupid Hallmark Sword's day card."

First: "Samirah al-Abbas, what have you brought us tonight- another half-troll? Perhaps a spy from your father?"

Last: "Death to Surt! Death to the enemies of Asgard!"

Loki

First: "Death was an interesting choice, Magnus."

Last: "No! No, you wouldn't dare! I will never-"

Thor

First: "Mother-grubbing scum bucket! Where is my backup?"

When he cut his father Ouranos with his scythe his fate was set in stone, dooming him and his family with a terrible curse, so it doesn't matter if he tried to be a good king, husband and father because in the end he was fated to face the same fate his father suffered in his hands by the hands of one of his sons. He trying to avoid fate just made things worse.

Him, Rhea and their children could never be a family.

Not excusing his actions. As Loki another villain put.

"The thing about fate, Magnus: even if we can't change the big picture, our choices can alter the details. That's how we rebel against destiny, how we make our mark. What will you choose to do?"

He didn't needed to be remembered as a monster, he could had gone to story as a good king and in the heart of his family as someone they hold dear, but he was the Crooked One for a reason.

It's interesting to imagine how things could have changed if Rhea had fixed him as he wanted, if he hadn't let the paranoia dominate him and swallowed Hestia when he noticed she wasn't a Titan. Something tells me either Zeus would end up releasing him from Tartarus like in Hesiod's works, maybe not even chopping him into pieces after defeating him, or Zeus would end up worse than he already was on canon, after all one thing is defeating an abusive archnemesis dad and other is betray a father who actually raised and loved you.

Well, something tells me that either way Rhea would (still) love this Kronos.

Because the writers didn't have to make this about abuse. A villian can have a wife or a sidekick who actually cares about them. It doesn't have to always be about abusive power dynamics. And the fact that it always seems to end up that way really just annoys me. I prefer not to think of abuse on a day to day basis. I know it happens, but it's just an uncomfortable thing that makes bad writing seem worse. It's almost lazy to fall back on the cliche of having a villain be abusive. It's not fun.

I think Loki actually is a good father. He was locked to a rock, chained up with the entrails of his dead children! Venom dripped in his eyes! I imagine he could only have been grateful his wife even tried to lessen his pain. It really just makes me uncomfortable reading about how Loki abuses his partner. It doesn't feel right. It feels wrong. And everytime I see a villain who's actually super compelling and sympathetic doing something like this, I think it'll bring me a little bit of agony inside. Gods, I hate it.

So my latest hyperfixation has been MCGA I'm on book two and I just felt the need to draw Loki and his children bc I'm definitely so normal about them!!

"Are you good because you kill your enemies, but your enemies are bad because they kill you? What sort of logic is that?" He leaned in close he was definetly taller than I was now. The top of my head barely reached his shoulders. "A little secret Magnus. There is no good and evil. Theres only capable and incapable. I am capable. You...are not."
