One message read and ignored. Two. THE THIRD ONE CATCHES HIS EYE. ( Funny how threes seem to be so big in cultures around the world - it almost makes one think there must be a grain of truth or reason to the strange obsession with things done in threes. ) Chishiya pauses, then clicks back into the conversation to read the message sent.

Ah. In his defense, it wasn't as if he ever texted anyone else frequently enough to warrant this knowledge being relevant. Kuina texted regardless and the other number - well, he doesn't talk about that one. And his mother's conversations are more akin to ANNOUNCEMENTS on the rare occasion that he receives one or merely answered with a one word response. The news of read receipts is rather annoying.

First thing he was doing after this conversation was googling HOW TO TURN THEM OFF. If he could. He probably could, right? HOPEFULLY. It was appalling to imagine a possibility where he couldn't.

[To: Sett - Status: SENT - 3:15 p.m.] Sometimes I can read them but not respond right away.

Is that the situation right now? . . . No. He's just bringing it up to make a point.

[To: Sett - Status: SENT - 3:18 p.m.] There is nothing you can do to bribe me to go to the gym with you.

If the KING OF SPADES couldn't motivate Chishiya to run, then Sett certainly stood no chance. Albeit the former was helped by the fact that Chishiya didn't value his own life, but his point still stood. He got his exercise walking around the hospital and that was fine for him. The idea of going to a gym, even if it was the one within his own building, made his nose wrinkle in distaste. And swimming wasn't going to entice him either.
