Ending of Horneater spoilers!!!
The next Stormlight novella is going to be called Horneater
This might have already been announced elsewhere, but this is the first Iām hearing of it
I know that we are getting a five-to-ten year interlude between books five and six of The Stormlight Archive. One thing Iām looking forward to in the āback fiveā novels is the next-generation Rosharans getting some time in the spotlight. Oroden and Gavinor will be right around that āStand By Meā age, and maybe Rockās youngest daughter Beautiful Song will be part of that clique as well. Lift will be the cool aunt that āsupervisesā them so that they TECHNICALLY have an adult present. If Shallan and Adolin have a child, sheād be right in that āhero-worshipping younger siblingā age slot.
I realize that we are still at least eight years away from potentially getting these stories, but Iām definitely anticipating the possibilities. Please, Brandon, please: spare the children. At least until we get some of this stuff in the back five. ā¤ļø
Trying to depict Rockās children =) Iām working on their detailed look!

Do Horneaters know more about birds? Rock recognized a goose feather-fletcher arrow, not calling it a chicken feather. Could this relate to the Horneater population living by Cultivation's Perpendicularity? Are they more directly related to the Shin? Even more crazy, does Patji and First of the Sun have any involvement in their knowledge of birds? Highly unlikely on that last one, but this is a Brandon Sanderson mystery here, and for as much as we know about Realmatic theory and worldhopping so far, I feel like we have even more to learn. I just thought it was crazy that a Rosharan called a bird by another name other than "chicken"... either that's a very small Sanderson foreshadowing, or it's an overlooked error-- which, I would find very unlikely for Oathbringer.
Cooking was like warfare. You had to know your enemy ā though his āenemiesā in this contest were his friends. Ā They came to each meal expecting greatness, and Lunamor fought to prove himself time and time again. He waged war with breads and soups, sating appetites and satisfying stomachs. As he worked, hands deep within the dough, he could hear his motherās humming. Her careful instructions. Kaladin was wrong; Lunamor hadnāt become a cook. Heād always been one, since he could toddle up the step-stool to the counter and stick his fingers in the sticky dough. Yes, heās once trained with a bow. But soldiers need to eat, and nuatoma guards each did several jobs, even guards with his particular heritage and blessings.
Brandon Sanderson,Ā Oathbringer: Chapter 37 ā The Last Time We March
Hereās a (very) quick and messy sketch of Rock. I absolutely love him as a character. Yeah, thatās it. Constructive criticism is welcome.
