I have thoughts about a WoB on oxygen levels on Roshar that's worrying me a little.

Roshar has high oxygen level. Okay, we knew that. Rock often calls others people "air-sick lowlanders" and it's just a joke about how strange other people are. Right?

Vorins: oma (oh my Almighty)

Thaylens: omp (oh my Passions)

Horneaters: omm (oh my mafah’liki)

Listeners: omr (oh my Rhythms)

Purelakers: omt (oh my tides)

Shin: oms (oh my stones)

The Unkalaki are called horneaters because they eat the shells of animals (rather than just the meat inside as most other cultures do)

But I can’t remember a single creature on Roshar being described as having HORNS. That’s typically a feature of certain mammals with aggressive mating tendencies. Maybe some insects like rhino beetles. Everything we’ve seen on Roshar so far is some variation of invertebrates, ranging from crabs/crab variations to cephalopods. Possibly a turtle variation if we count Santhids

I'll soon continue with my former Rosharan culture project. The first stop is Horneater peaks. Let's draw some locals! (And Rock's family of course!)

Update 1: Rock’s eldest daughter and son (Unkalaki fashion points: braided red hair, mink pelts to keep out the cold, thick patterned shawl, goose feather adorned headdress)

So why goose feathers? Because there’re geese at the Peaks!

Q: In chapter 37 [of Oathbringer], as Rock is looking for his family after the Voidbringer attack, he notes an arrow fletched with goose feathers.

Was this intentional? Should it be chicken?

A: Horneater language has a word for goose, and they have them in the Peaks. I'm pretty sure geese used to be mentioned another time by Rock in an earlier draft, but that might have been cut.
