Among this new family I have found myself in, I'm so deeply platonically in love with my best friend, today marks a year since we met. I feel as though I've been begging to meet her my whole life

Last year I cut off my best friend of 11 years in a peak of my depressive state. Cutting her off was one of the hardest choices I've ever made. Watching her become the person who hurt me the most twisted at my guts as I begged for her love, remembering who she used to be to me.

While the decay of our friendship still haunts me and illicits late night tears, I have found so much security in my friendship with my lovely best friend and I truly feel safe having her as my friend.

Never have I had someone affirm our friendship as perfectly as she does, and I believe everyone should be jealous of the friendship we have.

There are so many people in my life who have informed my current self, and she is one of those who has lead me to a version of myself I can really be proud of.

I've gotten so much help from her and my therapist after my PTSD and depression diagnosis, and I can feel myself getting better.

I haven't had a nightmare in weeks, I no longer feel the urge to run away to a far off city every waking moment of my life.
