Random Rare Pair for Pride Month: Harunami!!!
Really specific, but what's your favorite femslash Chiaki ship? I feel like she pairs well with pretty much everyone, it's really hard to pick a favorite for me because of it. DR3, despite my mixed feelings on it on a whole, did wonders for the Chiaki shipping community, since a big thing about that anime is the canon fact that "everyone in her class (and Hajime) adore Chiaki".
Maki!! Chiaki and Maki's UTDP/Summer Camp scenes are so incredibly endearing, and ever since I saw that it's been my favorite Chiaki ship by a longshot (and one of my favorite Maki ships). I generally enjoy shipping Chiaki with the I Am A Murder Tool Trio (Mukuro, Peko, and Maki), because I think it gels in fascinating ways with Chiaki as an AI who views herself as a springboard on which the other students can improve themselves, rather than a fully realized person. It's interesting to look at the contrast between being a tool For Helping Others vs being a tool For Doing Harm, and exploring the ways in which they coincide. Maki/Chiaki is the version of this that reads the most Human - playing video games, eating ice cream on the beach, having pointless arguments just because they can. Something about being two teenage girls with an overhanging inevitable tragedy really gets me about Harunami. It's one of my favorite parts of UTDP-verse, seeing all of these fun kids having their lives as teenagers, knowing that the looming overhang of horror is still somewhere, nebulously, on the horizon.
In terms of DR3!Chiaki: Chihiro. I know people tend to view them as family, which I understand for SDR2!Chiaki, because it's implied she views Chihiro as her father. But for DR3!Chiaki. I know the official explanation for Chiaki being the AI in SDR2 is that the whole class missed her, but there's something, to me, about Chihiro, who has found her hopeless first love with her upperclassmen shattered by the apocalypse which she must escape from, immortalizing the girl she loved as a figure built to love and save others. Something something to be loved is to leave an indelible legacy, the wife of a poet never dies, etc.

Peko can distinguish Mukuro and Junko at a glance in UTDP, even when Mukuro is actively disguised as Junko, and that means sheβs either studied Mukuro or studied Junkoβs fashion articles enough to know their face fairly intimately. And either way. Gay
Perhaps two of the girls most intimately familiar with torture tactics and, when Peko is in despair, would probably delight in discussing it. Which. Um. Is sure a point of connection theyβd have!
Chiaki/Maki
This one comes entirely from UTDP/Danganronpa S, where Chiaki drags Maki into becoming her go-to gamer buddy and you get to watch as they slowly become best friends who have sleepovers and beach dates and itβs honestly a really cute, organic relationship
Two people who are both touch starved and consider themselves Solely Existing To Aid Others. They could heal so much together
Everyone loves Maki with bisexual haircut. But no one asks HOW Maki gets bisexual haircut. And the answer is Chiaki gives it to her in a spur of the moment over Winter break. I will accept no disagreements

ANYWAYS i love them because they're genuinely just a very cute ship!!! a mutual got me into them and idk i just fell in the harunami rabbit hole <3 likeee ... chiaki going out of her way to hang out with maki is so sweet and it's really helping maki out in so many ways that chiaki doesn't even know about <3 <3 <3
and eventually when maki starts to open up more, she accidentally falls for chiaki whhwhw it'd be so cute i could talk abt them forever
