I originally hated Jax entirely, I saw no upside to the character and it felt purely like the cliche of the bully who only bullies because they're hurting. After seeing EP9, my opinion has changed to that of pity for this character that had such potential to be something great. The writing in EP9 as a standalone is wonderful, but combining it with all the other episodes makes it fall flat

Goose wants you to be able to sympathize with Jax, yet you fail to do so properly because so far we've only seen how they abuse everyone around them and have no consequences for it

If Jax had been toned down, actually got consequences and started to properly try to atone as a person leading up to their abstraction, or was simply written to better show that this is actually them lashing out at others as an unhealthy coping mechanism from the beginning and not suddenly tossed in there in EP6 then Jax could have been a great character.

Jax being heavily implied to be a trans woman has definitely shaped my opinion into at least a tolerance with them, not being able to feel comfortable in your own skin because of social or personal stigma is a terrible truth for many. I resonate with that part of them, but cannot find myself to properly be able to sympathize because of everything Jax has been depicted doing

I do quite like the fact Jax is trans and doesn't get a chance to transition, representation like that is important and it's not in many places

Everyone in this show had potential to be greater than they are if they had been written by a better writer
