Shout out to folks with Haphephobia!
Sometimes I think about how I was EXTREMELY HAPHEPHOBIC as a kid and no one cared. No one knew I got SAd but they shouldnāt have had to. For the four years I didnāt let anyone touch me, I was forced into nauseating anxiety attacks by adultsā hwugs and kiwsses to help me ālearn to be niceā. Itās no wonder I didnāt tell them what happened. They gave me no reason to believe they wouldnāt have said āyou shouldāve touched the nice manās private parts back. I canāt believe you were trying to call your mom, how rude of youā.
bit of help
itās not really a huge issue since Iām able to fulfill my needs. Throughout my life, I absolutely hated being touched. It doesnāt matter how or by who, I instantly get angry and nauseous when touched and I feel where I was touched long after it happened. There is a very few amount of people I am fine with touching me and that is my mother, a close friend, and my partner. Then that is still only from time to time.
I know this isnāt that normal, as many people have a larger amount of people that can touch them (like most of their family and friends) When I try to do my own research, Iām getting results of trauma, other mental health disorders, or haphephobia. It could also just be me. Should I see a therapist about this? I want answers for why Iām like this but therapy costs a lot of money and itās not something that affects my day to day life. Only really harming my ability to go on with my day when someone decides to touch me without my permission.
I donāt want to spend money on something Iām not sure I even need.

Sick and tired of asking that people just ask me before they touch me, only for them to commit to that idea for like, maybe two weeks if I'm lucky, then just going back to touching without permission. No matter how clear I make it that I'm touch averse and this is me meeting them in the middle, they can't commit to something as simple as asking for permission first.
Like I am trying so hard to find middle ground with some very touchy and touch starved people, people I care about and one who doesn't get any physical contact other than what they get from me, I'm trying to tolerate it on days when it's not too overwhelming, but the lack of mutual effort is making want to stop allowing touches from anyone at all.
Why tell someone to ask permission when they won't internalize the idea and also can't recognize that a Yes early in the day is not a blanket Yes for the whole day? Why expect equal effort when in the end the only solution that works is wearing a pin on bad days that says Do Not Touch Me and even then I still need to pull away from the initial attempt to touch me and bring their attention to the pin? It just feels like I'm doing all the work to accommodate other people's touch starvation and not being met with any effort to accommodate my touch aversion in return. Like really why do I bother?
