During Cobra’s first major attack on the Joe headquarters, known as the Pit, General Flagg was present to defend the facility. In the chaos of the assault, Major Bludd — a Cobra operative — confronted him. Bludd killed Flagg in the line of duty, marking one of the first major casualties of the ongoing war against Cobra
General Flagg is doomed
Readers of Skybound's Transformers comic have just started to get to know General Flagg.
First introduced in the Destro miniseries, where he strikes a deal with the notorious arms dealer, and then reappears in the pages of the Transformers ongoing, having captured Ultra Magnus and Carly. All in all, not a great first impression, which led to a lot of readers to suspect Flagg of being shady and a potential villain.
At the start of the Kirkman era though, we see Flagg, actually smiling for a change, approach the Autobots with an offer of alliance, and handing over the bodies of Mirage and Bulkhead, along with enough energon to get the badly depleated Autobots back to full strength.
Naturally, fans who are unfamiliar with Flagg are wondering if he's being genuine, or playing some sort of long con until he stabs the Autobots in the back. Having man like Miles Mayhem work for him does Flagg no favors, though to be fair it seems that the General is unaware of Miles' nefarious plots.
As a longtime G.I. Joe fan, I'm inclined to give Flagg the benefit of the doubt, as he was a heroic character in the original comics, and died in the line of duty. Now, while I do think that Flagg will have his moments of moral ambiguity, I feel like he's going to lean towards characters like Amanda Waller (when the writers aren't just making her a pure evil superhero hater) or Cecil from Invincible; on the side of good, but willing to make compromises that more heroic characters probably wouldn't.
Now, because I think that Flagg is being sincere with the Autobots, I also think that he's going to die. Why do I think that? Because of this:
One of G.I. Joe's most famous vehicles was their aircraft carrier, and the largest playset ever produced for an action figure line (at the time anyway) the USS Flagg. Notice the name? It's in honor of their late first commander.
Now, I believe that, eventually, the Joes of the Energon Universe are going to get their own USS Flagg. I doubt that they'd name the ship after Flagg if he turned out to be evil... or alive.
Now, this isn't 100% proof that this new version of Flagg is a dead man walking, but I would reccomend that he start thinking about writing his will just in case.
