Baby Whisperer
A/N: Just a short little fic that popped into my head. Enjoy!
Dean groaned running his fingers through his hair in frustrating, he could still hear the screaming infant down the hall. Non stop crying for three hours, three damn hours. The crying quieted to a whimper and Dean flopped backwards onto the bed maybe now he could finally get some sleep. Just as that thought ran through his mind the crying started up again. “Oh, for gods sake.” Dean snapped pushing himself up off the bed and striding towards the door. “Dean,” Sam followed Dean into the hall ready to apologize for his brother if he needed too. They didn’t need to look far to spot the source of the noise. You were pacing the hallway, a screaming bundle in your arms. Your h/c hair mussed, dark bags under your e/c eyes and desperation in your voice as you tried to soothe the baby. Dean had been ready to yell at you but as soon as he saw you his anger had dissipated and now he just felt bad. “I’m so sorry,” You apologized as soon as you saw the two men standing there. “I know it’s late, it’s just, when I get her anywhere near her crib, she freaks out more, and she’s actually quieter out here.” “No, it’s okay.” The taller of the two replied. “You look like you could use a break. Is her father around?” “No, it’s just me…just me and this little one.” You answered swaying the whimpering baby back and forth as you spoke. “No, family?” The other one spoke up. You simply shook your head, you weren’t going to go into an explanation that your mom was dead and your dad was a drunk who might as well be, right now. “Well, maybe…we could help?” The first one offered. “Oh, I couldn’t ask you to do that, I don’t even know you…” You glanced down at the crying infant in your arms, and back at him. “I’m Sam, this is my brother Dean. We’re staying in the room just down the hall.” Sam summarized. “And it’s no trouble.” “I’m y/n, and this is y/d/n.” You were a little hesitant at first but finally placed your daughter into Sam’s arms. He nestled the baby, supporting her head and rocked her but she continued to scream, her little hands balled into fists and then he started humming to her, you couldn't help a small smile tugging at you lips as you watched.
Surprisingly the humming seemed to do the trick and after about ten minutes she was fast asleep. All you could do was stare incredulously at y/d/n, now sleeping soundly in Sam’s arms. “I don’t know how you managed that but thank you.” You smiled gratefully as he gently handed her back over to you. “Since when did you become a baby whisperer?” Dean asked looking over at his younger brother. Sam just shrugged still watching you as you headed back into your room, flashing them both another grateful smile as you closed the door.
