In fact, these weren't his dogs; they were the test subjects of Dr. Freeze, who was also Leonard's mother's second husband. Before her illness, their relationship was rather distant and sometimes strained to the point of conflict. Leonard lived alternately with his mother and Victor in Gotham and with his father in Axis Mundi. Nevertheless, he received his education at the Gotham Officers' Academy (at the same time, Bruce, Harvey, Thomas, and Oswald, who were a few years younger, were also there).
So, technically, Leonard holds the actual rank of naval captain and is proficient in naval operations.
When Nora's illness worsened, Victor began trying more risky treatments, and his wealth quickly dwindled due to the arduous but expensive research.
Leonard, also a carrier of the disease, helped Victor, and although they were far from a father-son relationship, their shared misfortune with a loved one and their willingness to take risks and even break the law allowed them to find more common ground.
(Later, when Victor is finally sent to Arkham after his human experiments, Leonard takes his test dogs for himself: although they are slightly frozen zombies, their bites chill your hands to the bone, and their bodies tireless day and night, they are still good boys and girls, many of whom grew up in Leonard's arms. Incidentally, he managed to save Nora, but that's another story.)
Random question that I thought of while trying to sleep. What do you think the Rogues' ages were when they either started being costumed criminals or started being a team?
This is all pre-Flashpoint, because post-Flashpoint is particularly a mess from an ageing and continuity perspective.
Axel was 16, and Owen was 19. This information came from creators in interviews.
Roy got his prisma-goggles when he was 21 and he probably didn't become the Rainbow Raider immediately, but he probably wasn't significantly older than that.
Evan is particularly challenging because he was seemingly de-aged during his history. Originally, I'd say he was kinda old, probably somewhere in his 30s when he became the Mirror Master. By the Johns era, he was probably in his early twenties when he started.
I want to say that Al Desmond was ~25 when he became a costumed criminal. He was stated to be "over 30" during the Bronze Age, though in those days there wasn't really a compressed timeline like we have now so who knows how much time had passed in-universe. He was also probably older than the other (or most other) Silver Age Rogues because he likely had significant education by the time he became Mr Element.
The others are a bit harder to figure, IMO. Mick had a job with the circus before he became Heat Wave, and was clearly an adult when he debuted. He was also stated to be 40 during Johns' run, so I think it's pretty likely he's one of the older Rogues. And Len of course looked ancient by then, though he'd had a lot of hard living so he wasn't necessarily that old. Digger was balding before he became Captain Boomerang, although some men start balding pretty early so it also doesn't necessarily mean much. But I tend to think of these guys as the oldest core Rogues, even if it's kinda based on vibes more than anything. I'll say ~25 for them too.
Mark is probably on the older side of the Rogues as well, as he was showing his age in the Johns era and had a well-established burglary record and stints in prison by the time he became the Weather Wizard. Maybe 23-24 when he started?
Sam was such an enigma that I really don't know what to think. He did look kinda craggy sometimes, and he also had a well-established burglary record and stints in prison before becoming the Mirror Master. He was also someone the other Rogues naturally looked to and accepted as leadership material, so he might have been a bit older than all the core Rogues. That's my feeling, at any rate, so maybe 26 or over.
Len called Hartley "kid" at an unspecified point, and Hartley said he was "thirty-plus" around the time it was mentioned that Mick had turned 40. Mind you, "thirty-plus" could be a coy way of saying "39" (it's technically correct!), so I wouldn't necessarily think Hartley was significantly younger than Mick. We know that Hartley was kicked out of several colleges before he became the Pied Piper, so he was probably a young adult when he debuted.
(And one thing to be kept in mind is that some people call others "kid" to condescend to them, so it could be an indicator of age or it might just be another Rogue being a jerk to his peer)
James was probably one of the younger Rogues when he debuted, likely starting in his late teens or very early twenties. I'll split the difference and say about 20.
Lisa already had a career as a headlining skater in an ice show by the time she became the Golden Glider, so I'd guess she was somewhere past 19, probably in her early 20s.
One hill I'll die on is that Roscoe was very young when he first became the Top. He was arrested only twice before becoming a supervillain even though we know he wasn't a very skilled thief, and he had something of a babyface when he had the idea to become the Top. It probably took a while for him to teach himself to spin and invent his tech, so maybe he was ~22 when he debuted?
Spoilers for Absolute Flash #17!

Well, I cropped the pages for gore and violence, but Jesse shoots Grodd's dad in the head, right after he agrees to stand down at his son's behest :( He obviously doesn't survive, so Grodd and Wally have more tragedy in common again -- at least if future!Wally is right about Rudy's fate. And now Grodd has genuine reason to hate humans, especially Jesse (and maybe the Rogues in general). Even if Wally and Linda can convince Grodd that not all humans should be held responsible for the act, he's probably going to have an understandable grudge against Jesse and she may come to regret her callousness.
Truthfully I'm puzzled by her logic, as she declared that the job's done now that she sniped the elder gorilla; she's correct in the sense that the dad was the real threat and it was taken care of, but Rick Flagg specifically said he wanted Grodd dead or alive because he was a loose end and a threat. Even though his dad was the greater risk, that loose end is still out there and it's still a danger, so maybe the Rogues aren't going to get the other half of their payment.
Jesse does take pity on Wally by telling him where Elenore can be found, although knowing her she may have ulterior motives for doing so. She did betray the other Rogues to remain loyal to Thawne, but I'm sure she didn't love that Elenore ditched her to escape the royal clusterduck with Eobard at Fort Fox. It'd be interesting if she gave the info because she's still got some loyalty to Rudy, however, even if she doesn't want to do the work to rescue him herself. She seems at least a bit amused and impressed by Wally growing into the role of a superhero, even if she pokes a few verbal barbs at him like she does to everyone else.
So the danger of Grodd's dad has been ended, but it may radicalize Grodd and make him more hostile to humans, so perhaps the threat he poses has been increased. Not the wisest thing Jesse's done, and I wonder how it's going to bite her in the ass in the future; certainly the other Rogues will be pissed if they don't get their full payment, and Flagg might take out his frustrations on them. Eventually other people may tire of her many shenanigans, and there won't be anyone to protect her from Grodd's anger.
So, we've seen in Legends that Len is a huge nerd cause he knows a bunch of pop culture INCLUDING things like Star Trek and Men in Black
So, hear me out, do you think he and Barry would have a nerd off or would they both hide said nerdiness from one another until one of them realizes
Then they make out in their bedroom in cosplay

"Do we have to get him out? He's the one who fucked up! Who tries to steal a Tiffany lamp and then try to smuggle it out?" Lisa leaned over Len's chair and propped her chin on his head. Not easy to do since he was pouring over a map of Iron Heights and marking new security upgrades and altered guard rotations.
