˖ ࣪ ꉂ🗯 the dead poets : “the castle’s brightest academic headache” ୭ ˚. At Hogwarts, it became nearly impossible to mention one member of the Dead Poets without the others inevitably appearing somewhere nearby. They moved like a constellation through the castle halls, inseparable enough that students genuinely grew concerned whenever one appeared alone for too long. People saw them everywhere.
In library corners stacked with unfinished homework they swore they would “eventually get to.” They were so loud to the point Madam Pince had to get them out. Along moving staircases reciting poetry dramatically like cursed Victorian ghosts. They’ve unknowingly offended both ghosts and paintings nearby. Charlie once slept outside the Gryffindor house because he offended the fat lady on the painting. ✧ㅤִ Sleeping in classrooms after staying awake until four in the morning debating. Sitting shoulder to shoulder beneath trees near the Black Lake while passing journals back and forth. And their most common spot are near the Forbidden Forest at ungodly hours.
The prefects had stopped reacting normally after a while. At first, catching them outside curfew caused panic. ⸝⸝⸝ By third year, it became: “Why are you all here again?” While, Professors had an almost questionable relationship with the group. Others looked one inconvenience away from early retirement.
Professor McGonagall respected their brilliance but absolutely despised how often brilliance became chaos around them. She once caught the group reenacting a duel with charmed quills in an unused corridor and simply closed her eyes like she was spiritually exhausted. ✧ㅤִ Professor Flitwick loved their participation because discussions became longer whenever the Dead Poets were together. Lessons transformed into debates, performances that somehow still answered the questions correctly. ⸝⸝⸝ Professor Snape, however, looked personally offended every time multiple members shared a classroom. O’ Captain, my captain ! ⸝⸝⸝ of course, Mr. Keating is here too. Encouraging every student. Despite the trouble, the professors could not deny their achievements.
The Dead Poets consistently represented Hogwarts in: academic championships ◞ debate tournaments ◞ literature competitions ◞ creative duel exhibitions ◞ theatrical showcases ◞ interschool cultural exchanges◞ potions ◞ quidditch
There was also the unfortunate Weasley factor. Somehow, despite being academically gifted, the group became deeply intertwined with Fred and George’s social circle. Which meant intellectual discussions frequently evolved into deeply questionable decisions. The twins adored them because they all matched their energy without lacking intelligence. Younger students, especially first years, admired them all despite they all happen to have detention almost every 2 days a week. 𖹭
Somehow, they all found each other at the exact moment their lives were beginning to split apart. What started as late-night conversations, shared poetry, unfinished homework, and reckless wandering around Hogwarts slowly became their coping. They became soft places for each other to land on. Neil finally had people who listened to his dreams instead of treating them like childish fantasies. They hated everything the pureblood culture tried to force onto them; the expectations, the obsession with bloodlines, the emotional repression, the idea that love and individuality were weaknesses. They challenged each other constantly, and they also healed each other in quiet ways. They stayed awake helping Neil through nights where his thoughts became too loud, reminding him that his worth was not tied to achievement or obedience. They supported each other’s passions; attending rehearsals, reading terrible first drafts of poems, staying up for inventions, sneaking into empty classrooms to practice performances, applauding even the smallest victories. Professors often saw them as messy, inseparable troublemakers, but underneath all the noise was a group of kids trying desperately to become kinder, freer versions of themselves together.
