We have seven more teaching days until the end of school. If I can get through it without crying or cussing at a student it will be the biggest victory Of My Life. Okay not the biggest but it'll be pretty big. Let me tell you about an exchange I had yesterday;
Class is in session and the door is open to the hallway. All the way down the hallway and into my classroom comes a high-pitched Screech because someone down the hall is whistling as loud as they can. I look out into the Hall at the very end there's a boy standing there. I call down the hall:
" hey! knock it off we're having class."
He replies "No!!"
I can't believe my ears so I leave my class and go down the hall. I say "Did I hear you right? Did you just tell me no?"
Kid glares at me and says "What's wrong with whistling?"
" nothing but you're not supposed to do it in school especially in the hallway when we're having class."
I can't remember what he said to this but it was pretty much asking again WHY.
So I said
" because I have autism and the sound of whistling hurts my ears in a way that you can't even imagine."
The kid looked me in the eye, dead in the eye and started whistling louder than ever.
This kid tells teachers routinely to shut up and get out of his way. He beats up other kids and is generally just a complete jerk all day everyday. This this hatred and disrespect is also directed toward his mother who is a teacher here. She does absolutely nothing and neither does the administration.
So he gets to walk all over every single teacher and the principal and assistant principal do nothing.
I have two boys in my afternoon class that I am almost positive are going to turn out to be rapists. They already show sociopathic tendencies. Neither one of them face any consequences at home, one of them likes to beat up on girls and then say it is not his fault because they started it. He is also incredibly charming and can talk his way out of anything and continues to be charming right up until he gets mad and then he gets violent.
I cannot even get our SRO officer to come in and talk with these boys because the principal will not allow it.
So basically whatever happens after these boys leave this campus--- that blood is on the hands of our principal who refuses to do anything.
It is so frustrating. Any time I try to ask or say anything to the principal or assistant principal, they just say "Just hang in there we only have a few more weeks!" rather than actually doing anything about the problems.
Is so frustrating.
