ā¦Ā A/N.Ā IĀ canātĀ hold back the demons forĀ this one guysĀ iĀ liedĀ iĀ rllyĀ wannaĀ write.Ā tsĀ is likeĀ nnnĀ for me so this is the MOSTĀ iĀ could write without getting too freaky! Please consider showing some support to my posts,Ā I'dĀ appreciate a like. It goes a long way for meĀ šĀ
BANGCHAN:Ā Your mouth is stillĀ parted,Ā your fingers still curled in his shirt, and then your lashes flutter wrong. Your breathing stutters. A tear slips sideways into your hairline before you even realizeĀ itāsĀ there.Ā
Chan goes pale.Ā
He pulls back soĀ fastĀ he nearly tangles himself in the sheets. āBaby-- waitā hey, hey, heyāā His hands hover around your face likeĀ heāsĀ defusing something fragile. āAre you okay? Did I hurt you? IĀ didnātĀ hurt you, right? Tell me IĀ didnātĀ hurt you.āĀ
His voice is soft but frantic, breath warm against your cheeks as he cups your face. His thumbs swipe under your eyesĀ immediately,Ā clumsyĀ and urgent, catching tears as they fall like he can physically prevent them from existing.Ā
You try to shake your head, embarrassed, but that only makes him lean closer.Ā
āOkay, okay.Ā ItāsĀ okay.Ā WeāreĀ stopping. We stopped.Ā IāmĀ not touching you anymoreā unless you want me toā do you want me to? No, wait. Water. Do you need water? I can get water. Or tissues. Or both. OrāāĀ
āChan,ā you whisper, half laughing through it.Ā
He freezes.Ā SearchesĀ your face. His brows knit so tight they almost meet.Ā
āTalk to me,ā he says, softer now. āPlease.āĀ
Your chest aches at how serious he looks. LikeĀ this mattersĀ more than anything. Like you crying in this moment has genuinely shaken him.Ā Well,Ā that'sĀ because it has.Ā Work stress barely equates to a quarter of the stress heās feeling at this moment in time.Ā
Immediately he exhalesĀ and his shoulders dropĀ by 5 inches,Ā but his handsĀ donāt. They slide down to cradle your jaw properly this time, steady and warm.Ā
āOkay,ā he breathes. āOkay.Ā ThatāsĀ okay. Sometimes feelings just overflow.Ā DonātĀ worry aboutĀ itĀ baby. I know these things can be overwhelming. I understand.āĀ
He presses his forehead to yours, eyes closing briefly, grounding himself against you. You can feel his pulse through his skin.Ā ItāsĀ still racing.Ā
āI need you to know something,ā he murmurs, voice low and trembling in that earnest way he gets whenĀ heāsĀ tryingĀ very hardĀ to say the right thing. āNothing you do in this space is wrong. YouĀ donātĀ have to be composed. YouĀ donātĀ have to be sexy. YouĀ donātĀ have to hold it together.āĀ
Another tear slips free. He catches itĀ immediately.Ā
āYou can fall apartĀ onĀ me,ā he whispers.Ā
The way he says it makes your stomach flip.Ā
He kisses the corner of yourĀ eye. Then your temple. Then yourĀ cheek. Soft, reverent, likeĀ heāsĀ apologizing to your skinĀ for everĀ making it feel overwhelmed.Ā
āDid I move too fast?āĀ heĀ asks again, quieter. āTell me if I did. I can go slower. I can stop completely. I justā I need you okay.āĀ
You reach for him then, hooking your fingers in his shirt again, pulling him closer.Ā
āIām okay,ā you promise.Ā
He studies you for another long second, scanning for cracks. Then heĀ nodsĀ decisively.Ā
āGood. Good. Because Iāā His voiceĀ faltersĀ and he laughs at himself, a little breathless. āYou scared me.āĀ
He rocks you slightly without realizingĀ heāsĀ doing it.Ā
āYouāre safe,ā he murmurs into your hair. āIāveĀ got you.Ā IāveĀ got you.āĀ
He keeps whispering little check-ins every few minutes. āStillĀ okay?ā āBreathing good?ā āTell me if you need a break.āĀ
It should feel excessive.Ā
Instead, it feels like being held by someone who would dismantle himself before letting you feel alone.Ā ThatāsĀ the truthĀ anyways.Ā
LEEKNOW: He has the instincts of a cat andĀ anĀ owl combined. One second your toes are clenched, the next your eyes are shut, tears flowing.Ā Ā
āWhy??āĀ HeĀ blurts, voice sharp, eyes wide.Ā
You blink at him, startled, trying to shake your head, and heĀ doesnātĀ even wait to process it. His hands shoot up, cupping your face, thumbs brushing under your eyes. āWhy are you crying? Did I do something? Tell me why??āĀ
You stammer something like, āI donāt knowā¦āĀ
āThatās not a good enough answer,ā he says, eyes narrowing, and for a second youĀ canātĀ stop laughing. Because wow.Ā HeāsĀ genuinelyĀ offended by your tears. He leans in, forehead pressing to yours, still holding your face, and whispers, āYou canāt just cry like that and not tell me why??āĀ
You hiccup a laugh, wiping at your own cheek, and he huffs, exasperated, muttering, āUnbelievable⦠unbelievable.ā But then he pulls you into his chest with zero subtlety, squishing you against him. His chin rests on your head and his arms tighten instinctively. āYouĀ betterĀ tell me why. Or else.Ā IāllĀ never forgive you.āĀ
And when you laugh again,Ā wateryĀ and helpless, he mutters under his breath, half-angry, half-relieved, āYou're a poop.ā and smothers you in the hug, pressing little kisses into your hair, letting you cry against him while whispering, āI just⦠I just want to fix itā¦āĀ
CHANGBIN:Ā The second he notices, heĀ canātĀ containĀ it. He lets out a startled āHuh??Ā What??Ā Hey!Ā What'sĀ happening?Ā What'sĀ wrong???ā andĀ immediatelyĀ his hands are on your shoulders, tugging you closer before you can even move.Ā Ā
You blink at him, sniffing and embarrassed, and he huffs through his nose, hooting softly.Ā āNuh-uh. No. Nada. Nope. MmĀ mm. No thanks. No crying.Ā Don'tĀ cry.Ā Please.āĀ
His hands move to your jaw, obnoxiously squishing your cheeks in that wayĀ thatāsĀ almost aggressive but somehow tender, andĀ heāsĀ muttering rapid-fire, āHeyĀ heyĀ hey, donātĀ cry,Ā donātĀ cry,Ā itāsĀ okay,Ā IāmĀ here.Ā IāmĀ sorry, pleaseĀ don'tĀ cry.ā He pauses only long enough to peek at your eyes, then lets out a small, ridiculous chuckle at how pitiful you look, butĀ itāsĀ soft, filled with affection.Ā Ā
āWho did this to you?Ā IāllĀ fight them. Is it SeoĀ Changbin? Oh, that bloody bastard,Ā IāllĀ kill him.āĀ He whispers sweetly in your ear, rubbing soothing circles along the curve of your back.Ā
You manage a small laugh and a shake of the head, and he tightens the hug even more,Ā ridiculousĀ and overwhelming, nuzzling your hair. āGood. BecauseĀ IāmĀ not going anywhere. Ever.āĀ
HYUNJIN:Ā He notices the moment your breath catches, like someone flicked a switch inside you. His expression changes instantly to that sharp, startled look he has whenĀ heāsĀ been spun around and asked a question heĀ didnātĀ expect.Ā
āY/N.ā His voice is softer than before, butĀ thereāsĀ this pressureĀ inĀ it ā likeĀ heāsĀ trying to hold himself together for you.Ā His actionsĀ areĀ slow, careful, and his eyes drop to your face, where the tears have started, small and trembling.Ā
HeĀ doesnātĀ touch you right away. HeĀ doesnātĀ reach out like someoneĀ sureĀ of themselves. He reaches out like someoneĀ afraidĀ of doing it wrong, but desperate to try. One handĀ lifts,Ā hovering byĀ your cheek, then comes down to brush your hair back gently,Ā almost reluctantly, likeĀ heāsĀ steadying himself as much as he is you.Ā
āWhyā¦ā he murmurs, eyes searching yours, voice trembling just a little, āwhatās this about?ā He pauses, and honestly, you can hear how sincere it is.Ā LikeĀ heāsĀ just trying to understand you with his whole heart.Ā
When you shake your head, embarrassed and unable to explain, his breathĀ catches,Ā just slightly. His rescue instinct kicks in. He wraps both arms around youĀ in a tight and secure hold.Ā His chest presses to your back, and his head tilts down, close enough that you can feel his breath on your hair.Ā
āItās okay,ā he whispers against your shoulder, voice twice as soft as you expected, likeĀ heāsĀ convincing you more than comforting you. His fingers trace slow, uncertain circles on your side, careful and wide. āTalk to me⦠whatever you feel.Ā IāmĀ here.āĀ
HeĀ doesnātĀ make jokes. Not silly ones. Not forced lines. His empathy is too big for that ā his concernĀ tooĀ raw. Instead, he murmurs small, flustered reassurances, quieter than a shout, but so filled with warmth that you can feel it right behind every word.Ā
āIām right here,ā he murmurs again, breath low against your neck. āYouāreĀ not alone. Not for a second.āĀ
HAN:Ā He sees it and freezes MID-MOAN, eyes huge. āWhat? What? Oh gosh, huh??āĀ heĀ gasps, hands flying up, voice cracking as he stumbles forward. āWait, waitādid Iādid I do something? Are you okay?!āĀ
Before you can answer,Ā heāsĀ right in front of you, leaning down, eyebrows high, lips parting and mumbling, muttering, swearing softly under his breath. āOh my god, oh my god, no, no, noāhey, hey, heyāā His hands reach for your shoulders, then your arms, pulling you intoĀ him so tightly youĀ can'tĀ breathe for a moment.Ā
His voice drops a little, quieter now,Ā desperateĀ and gentle. āTell meĀ whatāsĀ wrong⦠pleaseā¦Ā IāllĀ fix it.āĀ
You hiccup a laugh through your tearsĀ and his expression morphs once again;Ā blinking, wide-eyed, muttering, āWaitā¦Ā youāreĀ laughing? Are you laughing at me?Ā DonātĀ laugh atĀ me!ā¦Ā oh no, thatās fineĀ actually, good, okay.Ā Forget what I said. Laugh at me.ā He squeezes the hug tighter, presses quick kisses to your temple, hair, cheek, murmuring nonstop, āI just⦠I just need you to be okay. IĀ canātādonātĀ cry⦠please.Ā OrĀ I'llĀ cry. You know I cry when you cry.āĀ
He rocks you slightly, humming under his breath, ridiculous little words of affection tumbling out, flustered and earnest. āIāmĀ right here. Always.Ā IāmĀ not going anywhere.āĀ
Even after the tears start to slow, he keeps you pressed to him, chest against yours, fingers tracing slow circles along your back. Every so often, he mutters a startled, soft, āStillĀ okay? Are you okay?ā like he needs reassurance as much as you do.Ā In truth, he does. OrĀ elseĀ heāllĀ start bawling.Ā
FELIX:Ā HeĀ doesnātĀ react right away.Ā
He just looks at you.Ā
His eyes move slowly over your face, taking in the shine in your eyes, the way your mouth presses together, the quiet tremble in your breathing. HeĀ doesnātĀ rush it. He lets the moment settle so he can understand what you need.Ā
Then he steps closer.Ā
One hand comes up to your jaw, thumb resting just beneath your ear. He tilts your face toward him, slow and careful, giving you time to pull away if you want to. YouĀ donāt.Ā
He leans in and kisses you. Soft. Barely there. His lips linger, and when he pulls back, he stays close enough that his mouth brushes yours when he speaks.Ā
āItās okay,ā he whispers against your lips.Ā
His voice is calm, smooth, that low rasp he uses whenĀ heāsĀ trying to ground someone ā butĀ thereāsĀ a slight lift at the end of his words. Just enough to showĀ heāsĀ nervous. Just enough to show he cares.Ā
HeĀ doesnātĀ ask why. HeĀ doesnātĀ ask what happened. He just rests his forehead against yours and lets his hand slide to the back of your neck, thumb tracing slow circles.Ā
āBreathe with me,ā heĀ murmursĀ quietly. āSlow. In⦠and out.āĀ
He matches your breathing, steady and deliberate, brushing his nose lightly against yours when you falter. Another small kiss. This time to the corner of your mouth.Ā
āIāve got you,ā he says softly. āWeāllĀ sit here until it passes. YouĀ donātĀ have to explain anything.āĀ
His other arm wraps around your waist, pulling you flush against him. Not tight. Just secure. His chin rests gently on top of your head, and he sways slightly, subtle enough that you almostĀ donātĀ notice.Ā
And he stays exactly like that until your breathing evens out.Ā
SEUNGMIN:Ā He notices, but heĀ doesnātĀ point it outĀ immediately.Ā
His eyes narrow just slightly as he watches you blink too fast, the way your mouth tightens likeĀ youāreĀ trying to hold it together. He tilts his head.Ā
āYouāre about to cry,ā he says in a matter-of-fact tone. ItĀ isnātĀ mockery, rather an observation.Ā Ā
When your eyes well up anyway, he exhales through his nose,Ā almost likeĀ he was hopingĀ heādĀ be wrong.Ā He steps closer, hands hovering for half a second before settling carefully on your arms.Ā
āHey,ā he says softer. āCome here.āĀ
HeĀ slowly pullsĀ you in against his chest, one hand sliding up to cradle the back of your head. His thumb smooths over your hair slowly, repetitive, grounding. HeĀ doesnātĀ rush to fill the silence.Ā
You sniff, embarrassed, and he gives the smallest huff of a laugh.Ā Out of fondness.Ā
āWhy are you trying to act strong right now?āĀ HeĀ murmursĀ near your temple. āYou donāt have to.āĀ
His grip tightens just a little. Secure. Certain.Ā
He pulls back enough to look at you properly, andĀ thereāsĀ something almost shy in the way he studies your face. His lips curve into that soft smile he gets when he thinksĀ youāreĀ precious butĀ doesnātĀ want to say it outright.Ā
āYou look cuteĀ whenĀ yourĀ all upset,ā he says quietly. āBut Iād rather you not cry about it.āĀ
He brushes his thumb under your eye, careful, then leans forward and presses a small, quick kiss to your forehead.Ā
"Just breathe."
JEONGIN:Ā YouĀ donātĀ noticeĀ heāsĀ watching you until he gently nudges your knee with his.Ā Just enough to get your attention.Ā
āCome here,ā he saysĀ directly.Ā
When you look up at him and your eyes are already glassy, something shifts in his expression.Ā ItāsĀ subtle. His brows pull together slightly. His lips pressĀ thin.Ā
He opens his arms.Ā
HeāsĀ not usually the first one to initiateĀ skinship, not without teasing first, but this time heĀ doesnātĀ hesitate. The hug is firm, immediate. One arm around your shoulders, the other around your waist, pulling you in soĀ closeĀ your cheek presses against his chest.Ā
HeĀ doesnātĀ speak right away.Ā
His hand rubs up and down your back slowly, steady pressure. Grounding. He rests his cheek against the top of your head and lets out a quiet breath.Ā
āYouāre okay,ā he says after a moment. Not a question.Ā More of a statement.Ā AĀ reassurance.Ā
When your fingersĀ clutch atĀ hisĀ back,Ā he adjusts his grip, tighter now. Protective in a way that feels naturalĀ onĀ him.Ā His palm spreads across your back, holding you there.Ā
āDonāt think about anything else right now,ā heĀ soothesĀ āJust stay.āĀ
His voice isĀ even andĀ calming. HeĀ doesnātĀ talk too much either,Ā doesnātĀ try to overcomplicate things. He just wants you to know thatĀ heāsĀ thereĀ for you.Ā
After a while, he shifts enough to look down at you, brushing his knuckles lightly against your cheek. His mouth softens into a small smile, dimples deepening into his cheeks.Ā
āIām here,ā he says quietly. āDonātĀ worry about a thing.āĀ
Bruce has always hated mirrors.
They never quite reflected him.
Not in the poetic sense ā literally. His reflection shimmered sometimes, like the glass couldnāt decide if it wanted to hold his shape or let him go.
He wrote it off as stress. Alfred wrote it off as grief. The League wrote it off as trauma.
Then one night during patrol, something answered him.
Not over comms ā not in his head ā but in the dark glass of a broken skyscraper window.
āYouāve grown, little fragment.ā
A man steps out of the reflection ā pale hair, eyes glowing like ectoplasm and exhaustion.
The air tastes like ozone and winter.
āWho are you?ā Bruce demands, batarang ready.
āWho I was doesnāt matter,ā the stranger says softly. āWho you were supposed to be⦠does.ā
The Batfamily rushes to intervene, but the figure just smiles ā a fatherās smile.
He calls Bruce a name that no one else has ever used: Acheron.
And suddenly the shadows listen to Bruce when he speaks.
Alfred drops his tray.
Timās scanner goes haywire.
And Damian, of all people, whispers, āFather⦠your pulse isnāt human.ā
Turns out Bruce Wayne wasnāt just an orphan.
He was a weapon ā a clone born from a god who wanted peace but was forced to create war.
Danny Phantom had made a son once ā to save him from Vladās reach.
He thought the boy died in the lab.
But now, standing before the man heās become, Danny just smiles through tears.
āYou called yourself Batman,ā Danny says softly. āGuess I didnāt lose you after all.ā
some absences do not leave quietly
they settle into the chair across from yours
into the petals of roses
into cups of coffee gone cold
each teardrop catching light
a promise
distance is only a season
and seasons always remember how to turn

Sometimes I can still hear feedback from my teachers when I write.
Remove the fluff
Donāt over explain
Trust the reader more, so donāt explain something again a sentence or paragraph later.
At the time, and sometimes now, I wonder if it was a little picky. But then, I find myself trying to make sure Iāve done just that. And to be fair, maybe Iāve missed points where I do - Iām trying to get used to drafts are drafts, they donāt need to be perfect.
But when I read my writing back and I found I have solved one of these, I feel a little thrill that I caught it almost as if the teacher is nodding their approval.
And thatās (one) of my reasons why Iām glad I did creative writing at uni. Iām not saying itās for everyone, I went when I was older - still though. Iām glad.
