Escape,

It’s something everyone desires,

Something everyone wants,

Something everyone is searching for.

Escape,

It’s one of the hardest things to find,

The hardest things to follow through with.

Escape,

Everyone search’s for it,

Only few can find it.

Escape,

It can come in many forms,

In leaving,

In heartbreak,

In music,

In loss,

In writing.

Escape,

I still haven’t found it,

Though I have something that lets me escape for a while,

That lets me be vulnerable,

And lets no one bat an eye.

Escape,

I still haven’t found it,

But I have my little time away,

Most in writing,

Where I can let my experiences influence me,

Where I can be my true self,

Where I can let the tears run free.

Escape,

It’s something all people want,

Even if only for a second.

Escape,

I want it,

Want it to leave this dreadful life behind,

Want it so I can be free,

Free from the chains that bind me,

Bind me to who I was (am?),

I want to be free,

But,

In order to be free,

I have to find the one thing all people look for:

Escape.
