kitchen tips
after a marvelous 10 day vacation, I came back and to my distress found I am apparently not an adult enough to remember to take out the trash before I leave my own place. the whole apartment stunk and the smell really permeated into all my things. so i'm spending today doing some damage control with the windows wide open despite the pouring rain, and everything getting a solid air out.Â
here are some pro tips
-on the stove, in a pan, warm a few tablespoons of olive oil with multiple shakes of cinnamon. warm for 20 minute on the lowest heat setting. the aroma gets absolutely everywhere!
-boil slices of lemon for a similar effect
-leave little dishes of baking soda about
-if you have a garbage disposal, grind (peeled) lemon. i'm pretty sure the rind is too much for many people's sinks
-clean the trash can with bleach
-clean all counter tops with equal parts water and white vinegar
I didn't have all of these ingredients but the olive oil and lemon definitely worked. i also cleaned the floors with a lavender oil soap from Mueller, and the toilet with a lemon toilet cleaner. i also have the light on in my bathroom (for the fan) and there is also a ventillator in my kitchen i left on all day.
hooray for being a grown up. here's to more success to me in the future :|
