considering that both damon and stefan were in chicago during the 1920s and ignoring the canon where damon doesn’t know klaus at all, i like to head canon that damon was there just lurking in the background as he watched stefan tear people to pieces lmao. damon knew about the all girls school shutting down and stefan’s wall of victims, so he’s definitely found stefan passed out somewhere on the streets, and dragged him back to his apartment. stefan would chalk it up to him blacking out after a blood bender.

and I just agree so much. Those moments when you’re painfully reminded that this is a show for teens is like a smack in the face lol.

But what I was really wondering is (since you like Defan) do you think it’s hard to ignore how much the show (at times) will pivot from their brotherhood and then make it all about Elena? For example: I can’t stop thinking about Damon almost dying at the end of season 2 and that scene in the cellar when he’s calling Elena’s name and hallucinating Katherine😭And then when he does mention Stefan it’s to Elena and all he says is “Tell Stefan I’m sorry”. Like damn, that’s all? Or when Damon returns from the Prison World in season 6 and we get a world class Defan scene, and in the next episode Damon is like “Okay bye I gotta meet my gf!” and then ofc it was all about delena and the memory loss. smh

I do think it is definitely hard to ignore. Like, Elena is just part of Defan no matter how you try to bend it, and that's what makes it so different from something like wincest. You cannot ignore her.
