Helaena's fondness for Aemond would have spoknen volumes about her as a person and a woman. She prefers the brother who is just the spare second son, and not particularly good-looking to the handsome crown prince. It paints her as a little naive, starry-eyed and idealistic young woman. Likely familiar with the idea of courtly love. She just wishes she could be with Aemond because she's in love with his personality.

Aemond has been sexualised by his"fans" since season 1. I didn't interpret him as an especially sexual person tho. It was one of the reasons why people guessed he could have been a better partner for Helaena than their hypersexual brother.

I do not personally ship anyone in this show, but I can understand why that kind of forbidden, idealized romance appeals to people. It is a gentle concept, especially for viewers who wanted Helaena to be seen, loved, and given more emotional depth.

This was also a genuine breath of fresh air compared to what usually lands in my inbox. Most people who try to “explain” a ship are really trying to correct me, recruit me, or wear me down until I agree. When that fails, they turn hostile, insult everyone involved, and even throw their own favorite character under the carriage just to win an argument.
