#deadpool three

The car skidded to a halt, and your vision swam for a moment. You lurched out of your seat and were quickly pulled back by the seatbelt. Your neck craned painfully from the jarring whiplash.

“What did you say?” snarled Logan.

You looked between Logan and Wade in confusion.

You weren’t paying attention to their conversation, so you didn’t know what caused this tension. But whatever happened, you didn’t want to be caught in the crossfire. You’ve gotten used to Wade and Logan’s dynamic, even though you’ve only known the two men for a few days.

You reconsidered if joining them to find Cassandra was a good idea. Then again, the two men were the first people in the Void who weren’t an immediate threat to you. You felt like they were your allies.

Now… you began to rethink that.

Wade whipped his head towards you in the backseat. Logan continued to stare daggers at the other man. You noticed his claws extract from his knuckles.

“Mama and Papa are having a domestic dispute. Could you exit the car, honey?” said Wade in a forced, cheery tone.

You quickly obliged and unbuckled your seatbelt. You took refuge on a nearby rock outside the car. The two began arguing again, but it turned less verbal and more physical. The car shook as if the ground beneath it had split in two.

Before you knew it, Logan was launched out the windshield as glass shattered around him. He sprinted to the car and plowed into Wade as grunts and cries followed.

You jumped to your feet and stood uncertainly by the rock. You were mentally grateful Wade told you to leave when you did. You watched in horror as the men beat each other, each attack more deadly than the last.

You didn’t know how much time passed before you gathered the courage to step in. You sucked in a deep breath and exhaled. You took a step forward towards the car.

You pulled your gun out of your gun holster on your leg. You raised the gun and shot twice in the air.

“Enough!” you shouted.

The birds nestled in the looming trees flew off the branches. They squawked in surprise and disappeared into the sky. The two men paused in their fight and stared at you.

You released the tension between your shoulders. You cleared your throat from straining it. You lowered your gun to your side and returned it to the holster.

“You are grown adults acting like feral animals! Your barbaric fight is distracting us from getting home and defeating our enemy. If you want to get out of the Void, quit throwing fists and use your heads!”

Wade and Logan continued to stare at you, stunned with silence. You had to admit you were surprised as well. You wildly gestured to the now destroyed Honda Odyssey.

“You both fucked our only way of transportation to find Cassandra!”

Wade crawled off Logan and pointed at him. “He started it!”

Logan growled and his eye twitched. “Oh, you piece—”

Your hand itched for the gun on your holster. You ignored the urge to grab it and cleared your throat.

“Will the two of you stop being immature morons?” you cried.

You rubbed your hand down your face. “We’re camping here tonight because we have no other option right now.”

Logan pulled himself off the ground and wiped away the grime off his suit. Your face wrinkled in disgust at their disheveled appearance.

You pointed to the trees behind you. “While you two were busy fuck-fighting in the Honda, I saw a lake a little further down. Can you guys wash off without it being a brawl?”

Wade nodded and saluted you. Logan glowered darkly at you. He grunted.

“No promises I won’t drown him,” muttered Logan bitterly.

Wade laughed obnoxiously. He wobbled as he took a step but regained his balance. He skipped towards the trees as if he was an energetic child.

“I think you want an excuse to see me naked, you sleazebag,” chirped Wade.

Logan grumbled to himself and reluctantly stalked off to the lake. He paused behind you.

“Don’t let that prick fool you. He’s a liar. He doesn’t know how to take either of us home.”
