How was your weekend? This was mostly my view. I found myself seduced by this fabulous skein of plump DK Merino from @countessablaze and a great new book on my Kindle. I'm reading the "Into the Wilderness" series by Sara Donati and is proving to be compelling reading. The yarn came from the recent subscription box from the Countesses Classic Society and I knew immediately it would make a fabulous Honey Cowl. It turned out to be one of those knits that you just can't put down. And so I find myself in the happy position (this cold and dark October morning) of having a new cowl to snuggle into. It may be cold and dark but we have coffee - and knitwear! Thanks to Storm Brian our Lakeland walking holiday has involved a lot more knitting than I usually accomplish so far. I do love it when Himself is working the weekend and I can get on with some blocking 😂😂😂 When I pin out a shawl, I always intend to let it dry, then take some good photos to post. Then I stand back and get that "Oooh, just look at it" feeling and can't resist showing it off straight away! I have to say, I'm very pleased with how this one turned out. I'd like to play with the ruffle a bit more, but apart from that, I love it. I love the colours ❤❤❤ That gorgeous warm brown is called 'Insecticide' 😳 and the orange is 'You Keep Me on the Edge of My Seat'. I love #theenglishgentlemandk so much, I had to buy some to make something for myself. This will be a #mossontheoldoak shawl. I think this would count as a variegated yarn, rather then a tonal, but the colours are close enough it's not going to obscure all the lovely textures. I love how warm the colours look 😍 I have 4 skeins, which I think will be just enough for the large version of the shawl. It's a very flexible pattern and it will be easy enough to shorten, or even omit, one of the sections if I start running low. I'm going to knit a bit further, then start alternating my skeins as there's a bit of variation in how dark they go. I'm using the 2 darker ones at the top and it will get lighter towards the bottom. I can't wait to wrap myself up in this! I have a lot of commission knitting on at the moment, so this is my motivation to crack on with it 😊 I will reward myself with a few rows of this when I've had a good run at the commissions!
