Went to the woods with my loves.
Cold, misty and beautiful β₯οΈ
Following on from my "nearly finished it" post yesterday:
1) Here it is
2) I was going to pop down to the beach for pictures, but ugh, it's grim out there, so here I am on my front doorstep again.
3) @noroyarns Shinryoku (discontinued) @dropsdesign Brushed Silk Alpaca held together
4) Floofy roll neck, snug body and subtle balloon sleeves.
I am, as ever, in love.
Isn't yarn magic? π₯°
Although you might be forgiven for thinking we're still at the height of summer, those of us jumping in the sea and rivers have certainly begun to notice a change in water temperature and before you know it, we'll need to be cracking out the woollies.
So for the open water swimmers among you or in your lives, I have two patterns specifically for such activity: the Winter Dippers' Mittens, with long cuffs to cover the wrists and fingers free for fumbling with zips and toggles.
And the "Into The Sea I Go" woolly hat, modelled expertly by two Norfolk swimmers who kindly allowed me to share their pictures π₯°
Happy knitting (but enjoy the sunshine while it's here!) βοΈπ

Blocked and ready to wear.
My parents gave me a bag of wool for Christmas. Not colours I'd typically choose, but I accepted the challenge π
And I actually rather love it.
No pattern. From my noggin.
Drops Nepal yarn.
Top down, in the round on 5mm needles, 4mm for the rib.
Roll neck added at the end.
Perfect with jeans, I think. If the weather ever brightens, I'll get a picture of it on. π π€

First Finished Object of 2023.
My beloved gave me a voucher for Christmas, and I spent it *straight away* on Scheepjes Secret Garden and Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk.
Knitted together for another super cosy roll neck jumper with subtle bell sleeves.
Bit windy on the seafront this morning (though beautiful), so have one by the front door again too π
And in case I haven't said it already, Happy New Year and may all the good woolly things be yours β₯οΈ
In case you missed it...
Evelyn made my #vintagechicsweater as a Christmas present for her daughter and was kind enough to tag me in her post. Unsure which size to make, she made both, and her granddaughter loves it too. π
I do love seeing the different colour choices people make. Don't these look fabulous??
Pattern is Vintage Chic Sweater. It's super chunky so it's also a speedy knit.

π Just finished π
No pattern as it was entirely experimental: a learning experience. But 1) it's super-light and the snuggliest thing I've ever knitted (in sock yarn, held with kid silk) 2) it will be the first of many π so watch this space. Bottom up, in the round, 2 yarns knitted together. Back to my million-and-one WIPs π
