“Thagomizer Appetizer”
My child as a toddler (bisqued) through her messy phase (glazed, unfired), and now flourishing in her adult years (fired. Finished, gorgeous!)
set of insult sword fighting mugs inspired by monkey island i made for my partner last year! they were kind of a test and i planned to make more in little sets of two (so you could pair the right insult to the right response) but didn't get around to it last year (so maybe this year if i remember).
i have a list of the insult pairs across the games in my notes app so maybe lol. maybe with the new stacking mug style i'm doing this year so you could have a stack of monkey island insult mugs...we'll see.
it really can't be understated how formative the monkey island games (specifically curse of, the third one) were to both my sense of humor and how i approach art tbqh. i just love the aesthetics of that game and am always kind of chasing it.

Got my leaf plates back today! The base green (Speedball Underglaze Medium Green) turned a bit muted in the Cone 10 firing. But the chartreuse is lovely so I may mess around and see if I can mix up a green that will stay more true.
I'm absolutely loving the accent glaze I sponged along the edges
the silliest little mugs! the interiors of them turned out really nice too!
