wheel thrown, altered and assembled porcelain with hollow-thrown knob handles. oxidation fired to ^9 with clear liner glaze, gold metallic and multiple zinc silicate crystalline glazes.
this thing is now chilling at Clay AKAR awaiting the opening of the Teapot and Yunomi 2026 invitational. the show opens in august and i am still low-key distraught that most of the original yunomi intended for this event fucking broke like right after it was too late to make more in time so i had to pick old work instead π«£ but do check it out as there will be an enormous collection of amazingly talented work by many of the best contemporary ceramicists!
however....
if you're a maker/creater/collector from the US of fascism like me then all your extra time, effort and money should be going towards advocacy plus boycotting and dismantling the epstein class/patriarchy and land back efforts and immigration protections and basically NOT pretending everything is fine to ensure the continuation of white privilege.
empire has enough bootlickers...
abolish empire
land back now
indigenous/matriarchal land stewardship
compost the elite
eliminate AI
eradicate white supremacy

Jewelry Holder
here is one of my most recent pieces. i made this jewelry holder for myself because all of my daily jewelry is sprawled out on my dresser. i used a clay body called "b-mix" which is a gritty white stoneware, but yet still related to porcelain. i used the same throwing method as i did with the incense/ashtray but left a bigger chunk in the middle. then i took that chunk and raised it to a desired height and fanned out the edges. i couldn't really trim this piece due to it's shape, so i added holes for earrings, cleaned it up, and then fired it. after bisque firing, i wanted to add a simple design to it so i added the black lines with under glaze and then covered everything with 'blue celadon' and gas fired it.
i am so proud of this one because its so useful to me. and i love the way it turned out. i'm glad i used a muted glaze so my jewelry stands out. i have one confession: some of the holes have been sealed by the glaze dripping. unfortunate, but it is something to consider the next time i make one of these. apart from making the holes bigger, i would also make the top lip thinner, and face downward. that would make it easier to put certain earrings in there. but overall, im pleased! happy to be using a piece of mine in a very functional way

I created his planter out of white stoneware and added the eyes to it as a continuation of a mug I made in my previous ceramics class. The only glazed parts are the irises of the eyes even though it's not evident in this photograph
(plant is a ficus elastica "tineke")
Mug shot Monday, and these beauties are just out of the kiln. A Pacific blue with red on terracotta and I love the drip.
